I'll admit that I missed the boat, but it wasn't my fault that I had to wait for 3 hours with nothing to do but watch the Queen of Squamish rock from side to side in her berth. I was given false information.
An anonymous guest poster sent me an email saying that I could watch the Richmond approach the dock from the far end of the beach and still make it back in time for loading. Stupidly accepting the info from the random person whom still remains nameless, I found myself at the far end of the bay about 270 degrees from where I should have been. I than watched the Richmond come into the dock. Once docked I made my way toward the terminal since she departed in 20 minutes. However, just as I was about 5 minutes from the terminal the Richmond blasted its horn and started backing out. I'm pretty sure I heard some type of maniacal laughing that could have been from either the ship's P.A. system or somebody aboard the boat.
So than came the wait, sitting in the waiting room and not a soul in sight...If it wasn't for the cinnamon bun dispenser, I would have starved. I was saving my appetite for a nice Sunshine Breakfast but by the time I got on the Richmond, I had to settle for a Captain Kid's meal, it was all they had. At least the donut machine was working. The Richmond was how I remembered it for the most part there were a lot of extra images aboard as it has been said. My personal favorites were the ones of the Queen of Tsawwassen They were all in the same place with lots of BCF memorabilia on a table below them. Same applied for the Esquimalt, Saanich, and Vancouver. They were still working on a small shrine for the QPR to be ready when she is retired. I was told by a crew member that the Queen of Kelsey Bay would also have one but it would be larger.
Unfortunately I never found many WCF members aboard, I think most of them were in the Dogwood Bar having a grand old time. I think I spotted Sean once or twice, although, I think it was in one of the lockers or the air vent or something like that. I also thought I passed by Flugel a few times, don't think I recognized the digital camera and I belive Mikey was trying to wave me down at some point but I didn't notice. Soon we were nearing Westview Terminal so I walked on down to the car deck to get a look at the bow of the ship, it's a very interesting bow there's the watertight blockade which looks like they cut off a huge chunk of the car deck floor to put it in, than there was the door to the actual bow door which looks quite similar to the Coho's. From there I departed not experiencing too much exciting action, a few memorable moments but not much.
Some photos to come around soon I hope. I somehow misplaced last year's.

Well no comment but from the video you know who was in the bridge the whole time. The clue is the extra long blast of the horn. Ferry geeks are a hungry bunch. I think Flugel was distancing himself from the raucus behavior coming from the bar. More than a few screwed up their pictures this time. Memory sticks and cards put in backwards seems to be the order of the day.

I was in such a hurry to catch the Queen of Richmond yesterday morning, that I forgot to bring my camera. Therefore, no photos from me After spending quite some time "testing" the many beverages of the Queen of Richmond's brewery, I staggered around the ship, then passed out. This morning, I woke up to find that someone had taken a photo of me. They had it printed out in the the ship's darkroom, and left the photo beside me, where I had slept.

Darned good Amy Winehouse impression.

Thanks to everyone who took part in our annual group trip on the Queen of Richmond.
It's always a good time, a highlight in the ferry-fan's calendar.
See you all same time, same place, next year.
Cheerio!

P.S: Suddenly my question marks started showing up like this: É and my quotation marks like: è and my backslash like: à and my square-brackets like:ç and ^^ . can anyone tell me how to fix that...

wouldn't it be good to have it on their site, so that people can rent a ferry for the day, so a group could go somewhere? It would be a good source of income, I think.

The terminal is managed by one of our members who lives within the Nanaimo area. I manage the terminal on a 1 year contract, that renews every April 1st. Future terminal amenities will include a piano-bar (but we just need to find a good piano player who also understands ferries.....), the warehouse for the raspberry-sauce kegs, and the Centre for Cavitation Studies.

Totally, but it's based in reality. Neil really does like the raspberry sauce. Scott is a fine piano player and has ferrynerditis. Cavitation is a much-discussed issue from the new Super C ships. The whole "legend of the Queen of Richmond" has evolved over time, as we creatively add bits to her history and legend. It's our creative outlet. It's all a big joke, but we treat it as if it's reality.

We don't rent the ferries for public excursions, it is by invitation only and passengers have with them an insurance waiver, since our insurance carrier has set restrictions when it comes to liability issues... Our mandate to always ensure the fog bank generator is operating at 110% of capacity at all times during the voyage has turned our agent's hair a very distinguished white...

Our illustrious silver coiffed insurance agent simply went bald at the thought of what would happen if the majority of the crew tried to participate...I am in the process of rewriting the liability waivers to see if I can encourage some regrowth in the once healthy follicles...we may have to limit the cast of said videos...it has also been requested the we refrain from being too "stern" in the video as we still have yet to determine the true nature behind the captain's curse...

Either way, it's funny. ;D I was skeptical by then, yes. about 85% sure.... I was down at Maple Ridge's Port Haney Wharf this morning watching the tugboats sailing up and down the fraser, when I saw something very large chugging along. I pulled up my binoculars, and there was the sillouette of the Queen of Richmond, engulfed in her normal fog bank. I tried to capture some photos, in the below image, you can CLEARLY see her sillouette in the fog: From what I heard, the QoRichmond is going for tea at the home good friend by the name of Sidney. I'll watch out for Richy on his return trip tonight. I think they've modified her engines to wood-burning. She was spitting out alot of white soot, as you can see on the dock below
