So Harbourlynx in for maintenence? The JAB looks like the Queen of the Islands somewhat.

One thing that is baffling me....... Are the pieces of the Burr in the water, or are they on some sort of drydock? Something tells me its on some sort of drydock, but the reflection of the deck of it looks like it is in the water.

I THINK, but am not sure, that the hull has now arrived. There are 4 big pieces that look hull like sitting at the dock yeard, as well as more of the white superstructure pieces.

The 4 hull sections have been placed next to one another on land, in the exact same spot the Skeena Queen was built actually. It looks like assembly is going forward. However, with the modules in their present locations it would imply there is no stetching/widening going to take place. I could be wrong and they're just together for convenience's sake.

Yeah, I saw that too. It doesn't look very big, so they definitely should be stretching and/or widening it.

I was wrong... I looked at it in detail today and there is a large gap bwteen the port and starboard halves. This may be for a new section, or alternatly just to get engine parts in etc.

It is for ship expansion Dane, a new car lane is expanding the car capacity from 24 to 36 cars.

As far as we know, it should be running this summer. I would assume maybe around the same time the Queen of Surrey returns to service.

A BC Ferries spokesperson told me the re-built JAB would be in service later this summer. In response to my suggestion that Hornby Island needs a bigger ferry (chronic overloads all summer, frequent double-tripping), she said that at this time, the new ferry is designated as a 'relief' vessel. Seems odd to buy and rebuild a craft just for occasional use, but that's what she told me. By the way, can someone clue me in on why my computer's telling me that there are "errors with my post", and that my username 'hornbyguy' can't be used because it's registered to someone else on this forum? As far as I know, that someone else is ME! You have to forgive me, as I'm really pathetic when it comes to computers. For now I'll have to be a guest.

If you want to type HornbyGuy as a guest, just type it and add a space at the end.
