The Queen of Alberni is back on route 30 with the Vancouver already, where is the Surrey? the Coquitlam is still on route 3.

Get Ready the Surrey is checking in at Burrard in the Next few days and the Nanny's still in it's refit and in February about halfway through the Surrey refit the SoVI goes for the Refit like the one this year to the SoBC then the Traffic is gonna go mad...again!

"Traffic is gonna go mad...again!" Agreed! I can still remember the chaos of last winter. Events come to mind such as the replacement V-Class breaking down (more than once, I think), and, if I remember correctly, the SOVI was even taken out for regulatory testing, leaving almost pre-1993 conditions, over ten years later... Good times ------------------------------------------------------------ "the Coquitlam is still on route 3." Is the Coquitlam now on route 3 indefinitely for the foreseeable futue?

Good Idea! When the SOVI is gone, bring in the Tsawwassen to replace it, the Chilliwack is gonna be on Saltery Bay-Earls cove route. Why doesn't BCFerries sell the Tsawwassen, then get the plans and update them to the New Transport Canada Standards, and then build another vessel like the Tsawwassen, but bigger and better, and to the standards of transport Canada.

Harry, BCF is not giving up the SOVI. Why does BCF not give the tsawwassen up? She is still needed and it would take too much to update her.

Unfortunately, the design of the Sidney and Tsawwassen were chosen more because a lack of time, rather then the design being made to fit the route (as we all know, the general design was taken from the Coho), so I doubt there's any chance of BCF re-using design (or even design principles).

Maybe you guys should tour the mid-life refit...on second thought, the shipyards are pretty hard to get into.

My mom knows someone that works in the North Vancouver shipyards, and has offered to take me around the Fastcats. So maybe I could arrange to do that and tour the Surrey.......

It would be awesome to get on the Surrey, we'd have to either do it very soon or close to it's re-entry date I'd suspect. It would be cool to go mid-refit though.
Best of luck!

Would love to see the Surrey in refit, but I would really love to play on the Fastcats and get loads of photos of them for historic archives.

To save time, I've copied and pasted the message that I left on the Yahoo! group, bcferriesclub:

Not only is she at North Van already, they've already started the first stages of the refit. They've added temporary superstructure in front of windows at both ends of the main passenger deck, where the windows have already been removed, and the line cut around where the section will be removed (like was done to the Oak Bay). I was passing through Lonsdale Quay yesderday, and decided to do a photo shoot at the WMG shipyard of her, the QotNorth and the Pacificats (I will post here once I've uploaded to my webshots site).
The Queen of Surrey is still in the water, moored where the floating drydock recently used for the Queen of Nanaimo and Bowen Queen used to be moored. It seems that that floating drydock was simply moved to the east side of the shipyard, and now holds the Queen of the North.
