What's going to happen to Fullford (what route is that again?) won't it need a second ship to handle increasing capacity as fullford can't handle a bigger ship? (not enough holding lanes, unless they put a second level in).

Fulford's fine, The route only gets traffic problems when the Skeena Queen Breaks down.

Even if it did need the extra capacity, do you think 16 cars on a ship with less HP than one car would make a difference?

they need a third vessel because there has been 3 sail waits which is crazy!!! would you rather have a third vessel or wait three sailings? Ill be away all summer but I bet sailing waits are not a huge issue on Route 30. Ill check in when I can to see how's it is doing but I am very confident the other routes will have much bigger traffic concerns. The Mill Bay is a useless piece of crap in the grand scheme of things. It's capacity is useless like Doug said. The ships is there because it was more less mandated to be until BCFS took over.

how many want to bet there is going to be sailing waits yesterday there was a 2 sail wait for overheights
also with super C location there should have been 4 to all put on the departure bay run and then put the C's running that route to go to Tsawwassen-Swartz Bay and retire the Van and Esquimalt on those runs (keep the Sannich for more time) switch the Oaky over to Langdale for summer and as relief vessel in winter during holidays. Then make another set of S class vessels and then put the rest of the V's out and put one of the C's on the mid island expressp while one goes into the shipyard to take out the platfrom decks and reconfigure it to carry trucks maybe rebuild the whole thing. Then take in the other C's and rebuild them maybe to Spirit dimensions. reminder this is just a dream it is not likely to happen but it would be cool still

Worst of the day was a "POSS", at least thus far.

well the last sailings get filled so they might as well get some ferries like in Europe that can carry trucks on both decks cause the cars don't fill up the whole top deck so then there wouldn't be as much on the next sailing. (overheights)

That's what I was thinking after seeing the documentary on the Ulysses (one sweet ship, 8 car decks). Trucks load from bottom and top ramps. Could birth 5 handle the wieght of trucks? a 2-3 truck deck ferry would really help and also really improve BC Ferries profit margins.

For the major routes it shoud be. . .
Langdale-HSB Queen of Coquitlam
Departure Bay-HSB Super C #3 Queen of Oak Bay Sec. Queen of Cowichan
Duke Point-Tswwassen Queen of Alberni Queen of Surrey
Swartz Bay-Tswwassen Super C#1 SOBC Super C #2 SOVI
All Routes Relief Vessel Queen of New Westminster

You know maybe they should run a Super C and a Spirit year round on route 1 so the Super C's get used more on Tsawwassen Swtz Bay. Also the Spirits have a bigger capacity than the Super C's so they don't need to be used as much since the S Class have a big enough capacity for the low season only on long weekends, holidays, summers, and relief they should be used so they don't need to be used as much even though they're new just like the Surrey's being used as relief when she comes out of mid-life

The Surrey isn't going to be a relief when she gets out of midlife, the Cowichan is. The Surrey is going to be the #1 out of Departure Bay and Oak Bay will still be the #1 out of Horseshoe Bay. The Coquitlam will be the #1 out of Langdale also. And the Cowichan should be in the Alberni's place when she's in midlife unless they use the Esquimalt for the overheight issue. But that would disrupt the schedule for a while. So it will be interesting to see what they do next year.

yeah, I guess they will put the Cowichan on ROute 30 while the Alberni is out in 2 years. A for the Surrey next year, I guess they will move the Coquitlam over to route 3.

They even said on BC Ferries that the Surrey would be relief on the Langdale route report

That was if the Coquitlam was going there and then the Surrey would be a relief until she went in for midlife.

That's weird that they would have the Surrey as an extra even after midlife. I thought they would even do that with the Oak Bay when she came back. But I dunno, it still looks like they have an upgraded vessel as the #1 out of either Horseshoe Bay or Departure Bay and then gets shafted to #2 or #1 on another route. But maybe they will have her as a relief, we'll just have to wait and see what they actually end up doing.

They rebuilt the New West for Route 30, she will be there for a long time. She won't be retired with the rest of the V-Class ships.

She'll probably be retired right after the B Class

the B class are being retired sooner than 2010 but they are saying the New West is supposed to be in till 2015

Actually wasn't there a rumor that the Nanny was getting a passenger service upgrade and a Major refit like the Spirits and the C Class last i heard she will be going into a "mid life" refit in october worth about $13 million. complete upgrade on the interior, emergency chutes, these chutes are a different design then the ones on the burnaby i have been told so not to drastically reduce the passenger capacity.
