I've been seriously thinking about building a model of Oak Bay lately. But just thinking about the complicatedness makes me wonder if its even possible though. I would have to have it so I could take the super structure off, to change the batteries. Plus I was thinking about equiping it with two motors, with two different throttles on the remote control, so it can switch between mode 1 and 2, and even have it steer with both rudders. It would take quite a bit of thought to do, but would be really neat to have though! I learn how to make a remote control robot, to go in a robot war, in my Industrial design class in a few weeks. So I'll have to see how I make out on that first. But I've already started the design process on paper, and I think this scale is way too big. So I think I might just make it 3 feet long, max.

I know, I saw that, I emailed her. She said she can bring it along to the Bellevue Regatta in June. I might attend, but is it in America? If so, I will need to take the Elwha or Chelan to the USA and attend it. I'll need the Mill bay ferry to be RC before I go though. She is in refit right now. Getting fixed and a new paint job.

Good news, the Mill bay is now out of refit, and a flag has been attached to it, the green light has also been relocated, the main light over the Cardeck has now been reattached too! It will go to get a new paint job when the Quinsam has been constructed and painted.

Any votes for under construction pictures? I know my model has the covered lane around the upper passenger balcony too narrow, I will fix that soon. Or my friend will, Vic is in Brentwood Bay, he just returned from Alberta, I will see him this weekend if possible to get some work done on the Quinsam.

Hey there Chris, Those are mine, if you did not know already. The Vancouver is a static model and the Alberni is a full model. I made a model of the Mill Bay as a retirement gift to my father-in-law, will post pics next time I get over to SSI, where the model currently is at... Am stuck betwen making the Pender Queen or Motor Princess next. I have the base plans, and the superstructure would be much simpler on the Pender, also would like to make it R/C, but have to do a bit of reading up first, in regards to the motor and balancing the weight. What would it be built out of? Steel or wood? My Mill Bay model is Wood.

Mill Bay has a carved pine hull and a balsa superstructure.
The Vancouver has a carved pine hull with a styrene plastic superstructure, minus some brass fittings.
The Alberni has a combination balsa/mahogany hull, with an aircraft plywood superstructure, in conjunction with styrene plastic for the more finicky pieces like the funnel, masts, bridges and solariums.

Hey, I plan to do a model of the Albert J Savoie.
Is there any scale recommendations?

HO or Hot Wheels scale, it would be 20 inches long.
