For October, the flagship will be a ferry (past or present) other than a WSF vessel that has/had operated on a route that made at least one stop in Washington. Any vessel that was ever operated by WSF is not elgible (even if the picture shows the vessel in non-WSF colors). Also, the picture must have been from when the ferry was being used on on a route that made a stop in Washington (i.e., a picture of the Chinook after she was withdrawn from the Pt. Angeles-Victoria route would not be elgible, nor would a picture of the Queen Of Burnaby from either before or after she was on the Seattle-Victoria route). Hopefully this makes sense, but feel free to ask questions if unsure. Historical pictures in your collection are allowed. The nomination process ends on September 30 @ 9:00 PM PST. Has this board been moved recently? - no, board hasn't changed at all. I think perhaps that some of the regular WSF posters don't know that it's here. However the main WSF photo-guys are aware of our monthly flagship, and so maybe they just haven't gotten around to posting yet. I also think the desciption for October could use some clarifying Which issue do you want clarified? As I understand it, the criteria is a car ferry that traveled to a Washington State port, but not as a WSF vessel and not in WSF colors. Coho, and a lot of the other ships mentioned in the first half of Steve Pickens' book or on his website. The issue that I'm interested in is whether it has to be a private photo that you've taken yourself....or if historical photographs in your collection are allowed. This would impact on say Barnacle's or Evergreenfleet's participation in the contest. Historical pictures will be allowed (I edited the rules to reflect that). |

ooops, YES the board has been moved, to this new sub-board location.
But still I think we have enough "regulars" in submitting photographs.....but they just haven't done so yet this month. I think that those regulars know where this board is....or if they can't find it, they'd ask.

Here's my 1'st nonination:  This was taken in 1994. The M/V Christine Anderson had just entered service and the M/V Islander was probably retired at this point (or soon after). |

While the vessel is depicted in pre-WSF colors, she was at one time a WSF vessel and thus is not eligible.

OK, my contributions for the month, since I couldn't decide between 2 different subjects: The Coho in 2003 coming from Port Angeles to Victoria. OK, an obvious choice.  The full size banner is at www.electricstar.net/ferries/cohobanner2.jpg. ****************************************************** My second choice is a tribute to all the little working ferries that ply the waters of Puget Sound or rivers around Washington on a daily basis without all the fanfare that the WSF vessels get. I thought that, given the theme for the month, I've chosen one representative to stand in for the bunch. nice pics too.....I think that the hotel in the background of the Coho pic really makes that a stunning picture.
