So "LB" (aka San Mateo): How did your October idea turn out, in your opinion? You've got 13 nominations, so that's pretty good. Was it what you expected, and where there any ship-inclusions that surprised you? And where there any ships that you had expected, that weren't nominated? I'm curious, as someone's original vision and the eventual result can sometimes differ. I enjoyed your idea. Good work! And thanks to all those who nominated photographs.

I chose 3 because it had much historical significance - a former boat that sailed in both countries, for a few different systems.
Although, I must admit - it was a challenge trying to choose

I chose the Coho because of the route dedication she has shown (same route for 48 years!!) and I am very partial to Spaulding designs. I chose number 13 because it is a night shot, and is reasonably sharp, and the ship is off-centre, which is visually pleasing.

I chose #1 just cause you can't beat a very good looking historical photo plus most know where I live.

Went for the Quillayute... Just seemed the most aesthetically pleasing...
I like the Coho, but .... hmmm...
We'll have to have a month just for Coho sometime soon.

My choice was #3. I always liked the "Quillayute" I think she would have been a interesting little ferry to ride across Jervis Inlet.

My vote is for #13 because of the beautiful sunset colours, but #5 is also neat because the ferry served in both countries.

As much as I like 13 - I don't think it respresents what was requested. I too agree it should be banked for another - Coho, nightime, Victoria Inner Harbour - month. So for me I was torn between 1,3,6&7

As much as I like 13 - I don't think it respresents what was requested. I too agree it should be banked for another - Coho, nightime, Victoria Inner Harbour - month. So for me I was torn between 1,3,6&7 For October, the flagship will be a ferry (past or present) other than a WSF vessel that has/had operated on a route that made at least one stop in Washington.Any vessel that was ever operated by WSF is not elgible (even if the picture shows the vessel in non-WSF colors). Also, the picture must have been from when the ferry was being used on on a route that made a stop in Washington (i.e., a picture of the Chinook after she was withdrawn from the Pt. Angeles-Victoria route would not be elgible, nor would a picture of the Queen Of Burnaby from either before or after she was on the Seattle-Victoria route). Hopefully this makes sense, but feel free to ask questions if unsure. Historical pictures in your collection are allowed. The nomination process ends on September 30 @ 9:00 PM PST. Unless mentioned otherwise, the Forum Flagship Guidelines apply. Edited to clarify the rules somewhatI guess that although I posted contrary the rules my first time this month, I forgot to read inbetween the lines for my real submissions.

I was the 1-vote for picture #6, which was of the Princess Marguerite II, at Seattle.
I was also fond of the winning #3; the Quillayute looks like a little water-bug skimming across the pond. I'm always amazed at how short she was. I suppose it's because the first picture I ever saw of her was the one on Evergreenfleet.com where she's coming into Earl's Cove, and you see her coming towards you....so you can't see how short she is.

I must admit that the Quillayute in Black Ball colours and before she graced the Canadian portion of our mutual coast was my second choice; quite an admirable banner, thank you for it evergreenfleet.

Flugel Horn, you're starting to remind me of the guy in the cereal commercial who just carves open the entire box and digs in. It is possible to love apostrophes too much. It's just Earls Cove. Could it be... Apostrophe Awareness qualifies as a theology course? Yikes....

And Juan de Fuca Strait is of course no different than the average WSF / BCF route I chose the Coho because of the route dedication she has shown (same route for 48 years!!) ... Well, yes, but you also have to admit that isn't too difficult to do when it's a one-run, one-boat company... ;D ...And originally, if you all must go by grammar, the cove used to belong to Earl; it was officially called "Earl's Cove" on Black Ball maps of the region, even though it never atually belonged to a Duke or even an actual Earl.

Depends upon your definition of Earl... perhaps 'his' name is Earl. Neat shot of the Quillayute, too. ;D

Thanks for voting for the the Quillayute!
That photo was from an original snapshot taken at Point Defiance.
As for the Coho...how about December? I believe that was the month she went into service--December of 1959.
