I am near Pender Harbour and I just saw the Queen of Surrey blow by heading towards Jervis Inlet or Powell River, anyone know where shes going? Or is it just major sea trials?

Glad you pointed it out to us. It appears she only went up to the mouth of Jervis Inlet, and is now likely on her way back home. That would have been an awesome little cruise to be on!

As a Sunday night commuter from Langdale I'm going to miss the 9:40 thru 11:40 sailings.

I'm glad I got on at least one of the Coastal Renaissance's Langdale round trips...

I was hoping to get in on one, but it just didn't work out. Better luck next unexpected breakdown I suppose. I'm sure the CR will make her way to Langdale again someday...hopefully in daylight.

That is definitely good news for the Surrey being back in service. Commuters and vacationers will be very pleased having the 1750h commuter sailing and having two vessels dedicated to route 3 as mentioned in the news release.
On a minor technicality, there is one ambiguous statement in the release. "Now that this work is complete (on the Surrey), BC Ferries is ramping up the summer schedule on both the Horseshoe Bay – Langdale as well as the Horseshoe Bay – Departure Bay routes."
Route 3's schedule is definitely being "ramped up" as there will be more sailings Thursday through Mondays. For route 2, there is no "ramping up" of the schedule. The same amount of sailings will occur Thursday to Monday and the Cowichan will do just one sailing on some Tues. and Wed., something it could have for most of July.

Actually, many people I have talked to are disappointed about the new schedule.
As a weekend (ie Friday and Sunday) traveler, not having the string of Sunday night sailings at 1040 and 1140 is disappointing.
These sailings allowed what feels like another day to your weekend when you don't have to leave on Sunday until 1030, and can enjoy the evening.
Yes having the Queen of Surrey back is a huge plus, however the Sunday evening extra sailings will be missed.

It appears that Queen of Surrey is having mechanical issues again and Queen of Coquitlam has taken over for the remaining sailings for the day.

I believe that the Queen of Coquitlam is already scheduled to make those sailings, prior to the Queen of Surrey delays. It's part of the Tuesday & Wednesday commuter sailing changes on Route 3.

True... as part of the schedule the Surrey and Coquitlam are each supposed to 4 round trips Tuesdays and Wednesdays. On Tuesdays the Surrey does the first 4 trips and the Coquitlam does the last 4 round trips. On Wednesdays they switch it up due to the fact that the Coquitlam ties up in Langdale's berth 1 Tuesday nights, so it's the one to start out on Wednesday mornings.
That having been said, the Coquitlam DID do an extra sailing today ie: 5 round trips to help with the traffic.

This was a pretty major operation.. A new crankshaft and bedplate.. The bedplate is the whole bottom end of the engine. its the bit that supports the bottom of the crankshaft, connects the engine to the ship and supports the rest of the engine.
Big job. wonder if they did a full rebuild as they would have had it almost fully apart anyway?
