Here's a thread for favorite music, songs, singers, and bands.
I think I'll post a different song every week here, with a Youtube link to them.
I'll start off with 'The Way' by Fastball
Next week you'll get something TOTALLY different. Believe me. Meanwhile people can post their own favorite songs, and discuss bands and the like.
This thread covers not only popular music, but also instrumental and older (baroque, classical, etc.) music. Discuss away...!

and to end the episode.. .cue Flugel making the turn north onto Highway 19 and flies across the east side span of the Elk River. Nice work, sir. I made it from Stewart BC to Pemberton in 2-day's driving. I'm pretty happy with that, just that I was able to get home quickly (the "I wanna go home" end to a long road-trip).

True, but for what? Recently I heard a new song by Randy Bachman, who apparently is trying to get current again in pop/rock music. Randy never could sing, but he was admittedly a fairly hot guitarist. Now he's just a wealthy, grey, senior (or almost) citizen making anachronistic, clunky, flabby 'power' rock, or trying to. Almost embarrassing to listen to. The Who once sang "Hope I die before I get old". Mick Jagger once stated in an interview that he hoped never to be singing 'Satisfaction' when he was sixty. Rock and roll started out as a young man's (or woman's) game, and for the most part, when codgers forget that, they just come up lame. And 'Bohemian Rhapsody'? For many of us over the age of fifteen, that song has been so overdone on the stone-age 'classic rock' outlets that if we never hear it again, it will be too soon.

This week's pick, by the Electric Light Orchestra: Mr. Blue Sky! A happy little song to rid of us this greyness that us Lower Mainlanders are experiencing lately... I'll save Here Comes the Sun for sometime this winter....

So, since I'm going to be away next week and the week after, I'm going to post songs for the next three weeks today First, a fun little ditty I'm sure we've all heard at least once: Second, something to calm you all down after that last one: And third, to celebrate SS San Mateo's up and coming birthday, his currently featured song:

Thanks for that Chicago song, Luke. It's a good song to listen to a 3:35am or even 3:34am, if you are doing an all-night work project.

Here is an onion themed song for Luke

Here's my official Monday song...
If I ever get a clock that can play songs based on what day of the week it is, this would definitely be the one for Monday.

Oh my. This is why the '80s should get locked in a time capsule to be opened the day after we all die....

Oh my. This is why the '80s should get locked in a time capsule to be opened the day after we all die.... As someone who survived both decades, the 90's didn't bring a whole lot to the table either. Of course, I wasn't paying much attention. The hairspray fumes from the 80's must've still had me in a daze.

If you want a hauling tail song that is modern I might suggest "The Beer Hauler" by Tim Hus. He is very into songs about Canada and does a nice job of it, not to mention names 65 brands of canadian beer in the song. I do like the flugel songs though. Have to give some thought to one of those lol.

I'd completely forgotten about them too, though I remember a Taco Bell commercial with some rap star (didn't care who then, don't care who now) in it. The 80s were a cultural wasteland, I swear.

Here's a nice little taste of the end of the '70s: I always liked the Bee Jee's style of song. We need more music legends for this decade. Would Lady GooGoo count? Probably not. I can't think of any huge music stars that are actually really good at what they do, who's music will be played well into the century. Was the first decade of Y2K a dud for the music industry? Lets wait 'til 2035 and find out...

Cool, thanks for tolerating my grumpy moments. Rumours are fine, as long as they're presented in the context of rumours, with as much explanation as possible, so that people can evaluate them. - also a good album by Fleetwood Mac, but I digress... An album that I just happen to have I think this calls for a song-post. Though it's not on the Rumours album, it's my favorite Fleetwood Mac song:

this post should probably go into the "Why the Sky is Blue" thread, but since it is musically related, I am posting it here instead. My fiance and I went to see U2 on Saturday at Qwest Field in Seattle. I've loved U2's music for a really long time, and I had never seen them live before, so this was a thrill for me. And, they did not disappoint. The concert was incredible. The lighting effects, alone, were worth the price of admission. I took a few pictures with my iPhone, which are not all that great, and certainly do not do the scene any justice. Never-the-less, this is all I have, so here they are: We were in the 300 section of the stadium view of downtown and the Space Needle from our section Some of the different lighting effects

I just came across this song which I really like! I discovered it while watching The Hangover Part 2. It's called The Downeastern Alexa and it's by Billy Joel. This is the music video for the song
When you listen to it you will notice it's refering to the fishing industry and how hard it is to make a living on the East Coast and numerous places are mentioned like, Block Island Sound, the Vineyard refering to Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket, Gardiners Bay, ect.... I think it's a neat song cause I love the boats and the ocean and yeah I enjoy listening to it. Never heard it before I saw the Hangover Part 2 then I had to find it on youtube. lol! The Alexa is a boat by the way!
