Some evening / night shots of Crofton terminal. The MV Howe Sound Queen is in the middle of Stewart Channel, on her way to Salt Spring Island. HSQ arriving at Crofton: HSQ is leaving Crofton; so this is what the ferry-landing looks like from the water:

Last week my wife & I spent a couple of days in the Salish (Gulf) Islands. We travelled on several ferries ( Q Cumberland, Mayne Q & Q Nanaimo) and visited Saturna and Galiano. This is the first time I have ever visited Saturna and it was well worth it. While there I took many photos including these two at Lyall Harbour. We also went wine tasting at Saturna Vineyards: Saturna Vineyards - Saturna Island - 21 July 2010. They have about 50 acres planted with grape vines on an 80 acre estate. If anyone has some money lying around the estate, vineyards and winery is all for sale, I understand. All photos by JST ©

Here is a new thread for photos of the Southern Gulf Islands; ferry terminals, and discussion related to those photos.
- How about this be inclusive of Salt Spring Island route, and south.

Village Bay, Mayne Island on October 15, 2010 during a transfer between routes 9 & 5. ---------------- Nice terminal overview of the 2 berths, and showing how steep the staging area is. Route-5 Bowen Queen coming into berth 2. - berth 1 was closed for maintenance. As this terminal is a transfer-station (mainly for Saturna), there are signs directing transfer traffic.

Just out of curiosity, are we NOT supposed to be able to read those numbers?

Just out of curiosity, are we NOT supposed to be able to read those numbers? I think it's just for the current situation of traffic arriving for transfer. But who really knows.....

Nice pictures of the Village Bay terminal. The last time I was there was in the early 2000's, when my family and I went to Pender Island for a day trip.
We rode the Queen of Tsawwassen from Tsawwassen to Village Bay, then the Queen of Cumberland from Village Bay to Pender Island. At the end of the day we rode the Tsawwassen from Pender Island back to Tsawwassen. A fun day, part of which was spent riding one of the original BC ferries.

Village Bay, Mayne Island, as viewed from the SoVI as it is going around Helen Point at the south entrance to Active Pass. The two vessels in view here are not 'regulars' in this neck of the woods. The Q Burnaby (at berth) is subbing for the Q Nanaimo, while the Bowen Q is subbing for the Q Cumber. This photo was shot at 16:44 on Wednesday afternoon, 10 November 2010. :)are you sure this is Tsawwassen, it is most likely Sidney as she was the regular on this run, I might have been working it about the time this shot was snapped. during this period Tsawwassen was almost always on route 2. mrdot

Karl has given me permission to post some photos from his Facebook albums. - I've adjusted the contrast & colours a bit, and here are some of his photos relating to this thread: ------------------------------- Long Harbour: Sturdies Bay in rough weather. - this was a few days ago on the refitted Cumberland, which wasn't able to berth because of the rough weather. Village Bay Vesuvius Bay And this isn't a terminal, but I'll put it here anyways. - Active Pass
