Approaching the Southworth Terminal Departing Vashon With the Sealth Approaching Fauntleroy Interesting to note that it was this same weekend in May of 2012 that the Yakima was covering for the Tillikum as the #3 boat just on that particular Sunday. The other two boats on the triangle running with the Yakima were the Kitsap and Sealth.

It was a beautiful day today, and after dinner, I drove up to Manchester State Park for a nice drive and evening walk. While there, I got a pic of Yakima transiting Rich Passage.

She looks like listing slightly. It looks like in all of the pictures I have seen of her recently she is listing, is that due to the Emergency Generator. If it is the Emergency Generator, I thought it was on the other side of the vessel.

She is listing a bit more than normal. Not sure if there is heavy equipment on one side or if the gangplank is pushing the one side down.

Yakima's Lower Cabin by Elwha On The Rocks, on Flickr Probably something to do with carrying about one-quarter of the foot traffic that the Kaleetan does. (It's also about a year and a half newer, but at this distance that doesn't really factor in.)

Hopefully it's nothing serious...Yakima's due for dry docking too. Yeah, and soon, according to the maintenance schedule - like this week or next. Is Hyak ready yet? She's supposed to be taking over for Yakima in the islands. Glad I'm not travelling there today.

Despite the alert, it appears as if boats are still running to Friday Harbor. They are just using the second slip where the inter island boat ties up for the weekend. Must be foot passenger only...

That's been vacant for some time now, so it's good to see a new building in progress there - wonder what it will be?

Hopefully it's nothing serious...Yakima's due for dry docking too. Stuck in Friday Harbor: Engine room fire disables Yakima, ferry teminal closed Four fire engines and numerous San Juan Island Fire Department fire fighters responded to Friday Harbor ferry terminal this morning. "There's nothing like an engine fire page to get everybody going," said San Juan Island interim Fire Chief Brad Creesy. The local firefighters were there to provide support for the Yakima ferry's crew and ended up not being needed. "They (Yakima crew) had it pretty well under control," said Creesy. Since the Yakima has lost power, the Friday Harbor ferry terminal is closed due to the inability of the Yakima ferry to move away from the slip. As of 11:47 a.m., a tug has been dispatched to move the vessel from the main slip down Sound. This could take approximately three hours. No cause for the fire or estimates on the length of time to repair it are available at this time. The good news is the ferry Samish, which has been out of service since Valentine's Day for repairs to corrosion on its hull, may be ready for sea trials as soon as March 9, 2016. Click on WSF's twitter feed for the most up-to-date information on the Friday Harbor terminal situation. sanjuanislander.com/news-articles/ferries/21328/yakima-waiting-for-tug-fh-terminal-closed
