There appears to be a boat shuffle on, and for reasons I'm not entirely sure of, the Wenatchee just checked in at Edmonds.

I took a little break from work this afternoon and went down to Jack Block Park. There was a Super class (Kaleetan most likely) moored at Colman Dock in the northern most berth. Looks like the Wenatchee went up to Edmonds Kingston and bumped the Walla Walla down to Bremerton. Kaleetan is tied up (with transmitter off) waiting for a transfer to the San Juans.
Maintenance schedule indicates the Puyallup was supposed to go up to Edmonds Kingston. Maybe they'll make that switch tonight.

Correction - Kaleetan was in the center berth (berth 2) tonight.

Could the Wanatchee be the main vessel on Edmonds to Kingston route forever now? Is the first time the Wanatchee seen service on the Edmonds to Kingston route?

Could the Wanatchee be the main vessel on Edmonds to Kingston route forever now? Is the first time the Wanatchee seen service on the Edmonds to Kingston route? I wish that the WENATCHEE would! WENATCHEE and SPOKANE is a better combination than a PUYALLUP and SPOKANE. You could take either the WENATCHEE or the SPOKANE as a footie from Kingston to Edmonds and board Amtrak's Empire Builder train directly across the street from the dock. You would end up at, or pass through, the cities of Wenatchee or Spokane. From Seattle, this train stops at Edmonds, Everett, Leavenworth, Wenatchee, Ephrata, and Spokane in Washington state and then continues east to Glacier Park and Chicago. I think the WENATCHEE has a Great Northern Railway Empire Builder apple ad on her bulkhead. Oh, yes, you could board the WENATCHEE at Bainbridge, board the Empire Builder train in Seattle, and end up or pass through the city of Wenatchee. Given these cities' train connection, we could call the Kingstion run the "Empire Builder Ferry". Leave the PUYALLUP and TACOMA together on the Bainbridge run as those two cities, which these ferries are named after, are neighbors and are connected together by the Sounder commuter rail south line.

That's pretty weird. I don't think I've ever heard of either the Tacoma or Wenatchee being at Edmonds/Kingston. I had to look at VesselWatch because of my disbelief!

Five bucks says everything will be back to normal by the start of service tomorrow morning... She's still at Kingston as of 5:35 and according to vessel watch is the scheduled vessel to run to Edmonds at 6:25.

Does anyone know why WSF would put the Wanatchee on the Edmonds to Kingston route?

Great photos "maximase86"! Here's one I took this afternoon of the WENATCHEE at Edmonds: She's one handsome ferry! The WENATCHEE is a little closer to her namesake city right now in terms of rail mileage on the Stevens Pass line. Any apples in her galley?

The Wenatchee and Puyalup are the same arent they? so what would be the point in switching them??

I wonder if WSF thought it would be better to do a 2 boat switch instead of a 3 boat switch due to the Sequim Lavender Festival and that the Wenatchee will switch with the Puyallup after the end of service tonight.

They had a service notice saying this:
I thought the "Edmonds-Kingston" part was a typo, because the Wenatchee is never on the Edmonds-Kingston route!

I just checked right now on the "NW Ferry" app (don't ask me where it gets sources from WSF) but it stills shows the Wenatchee there tomorrow but the Puyallup taking over by Tuesday.

Sorry for not posting this picture that I said that I post on this thread about the view from the Ferris Wheel on the Tacoma's thread. This is the Wenatchee January 5th, 2013.

I think this photo is pretty special since it shows all the JMIIs: - Tacoma, on which I was, from which you see the railings... - Puyallup, en-route to Seattle - Wenatchee, at Eagle Harbor I think that the only other time where you could possibly get a picture of the JMIIs in their enterity would be at night, when one of them's at Eagle Harbor, another is done running/starting to run Sea-BI and still in the dock at Winslow and a third is entering/exiting Eagle harbor. That would be an awesome photo to get: Railings, MV Tacoma, MV Puyallup en-route to Bainbridge and MV Wenatchee, MV Cathlamet and MV Klahowya at Eagle Harbor - Washington State Ferries by SolDuc Photography, on Flickr Oh yeah, and here's the classical photo of the Eagle Harbor boats: MV Wenatchee, MV Cathlamet and MV Klahowya at Eagle Harbor - Washington State Ferries by SolDuc Photography, on Flickr
