Yesterday I heard a RUMOR that the Klahowya would be permanently reassigned to the San Juan Interisland route in June, replacing the Evergreen, which would become a standby vessel for the next few years. Anyone else hear of this?

Yesterday I heard a RUMOR that the Klahowya would be permanently reassigned to the San Juan Interisland route in June, replacing the Evergreen, which would become a standby vessel for the next few years. Anyone else hear of this? I always thought this was the plan, except that the Evergreen would be retired after the Klahowya took over the interisland route. But now I thought that the Klahowya would be retired first.

Some pictures of the Klahowya in service (I know, crazy stuff) on NYE 2013. First, from the Melissa Ann, the Klahowya making way to Fauntleroy. Yes, it was taken at surise, and yes, I was up at 6:00AM on NYE like a crazy person. If anybody tells me that West Seattle isn't dense, then I am going to show them this picture with all the density in the Background. This the odd sailing of the day, where Vashon bound vehicles from Southworth have to take the boat to Fauntleroy, which then unloads cross-sound traffic and takes in Vashon and Southworth bound vehicles for a regular 2-stop sailing to Southworth. That's awesome! I'm really glad to know that there will be an Evergreen State class vessel there for a little while longer. I rode the Sealth as the II boat last year and it just didn't feel quite right having an Issaquah class vessel on the II route, for some reason she just felt really out of place.

Here's my video of Klahowya emerging from the fog, at Friday Harbor. - morning of July 15, 2014
The gentle shaking at the start of the video is because I was filming from a float.

Klahowya at Orcas Island, in the beautiful evening of July 15, 2014. - I'm in the official WCFF Orcas Landing viewing area, which is a roadside parking area, across the street from the hotel. (the ferry nerd energy is strong in this place)

I prefer the float right next to where the USCG ties up, if the ship is leaving for Friday Harbor. The spot right up the road from the Orcas Store (other side of the ferry terminal) is also great. Orcas has great ferryspotting amenities!
