Does anyone have any updates on this mechanical issue with the Mill Bay, and whether it might affect the last sailing day?

Why do they bother to repair the crack when they could just stop service a few days early and save a few thousand dollars, both from repairs and operating costs?

I was thinking the same thing. It's not like it's a needed service they could just pull her now and that would be it except no one would get a last ride on her.

I love this quote - because we have so many sailings we accept that there will be hard landings (and less frequently a sinking). Management at BCFS has to think much more carefully about what gets said in these public statements.

:)take note brother wettcoast, there have been a number of masters of the fleet over the years that have been anointed with the capt. crunch label, the most notable when I worked swartz bay was the late Capt. Harry Amedao, and I think every terminal had at least one so nominated. :)mrdot.

Why do they bother to repair the crack when they could just stop service a few days early and save a few thousand dollars, both from repairs and operating costs? Probably because once its finished service this weekend, they plan to sail it to some place like Deas. Lets not forget, they hope to sell it as well. No good trying to sell a boat with a hole in the hull?

No good trying to sell a boat with a hole in the hull? It's actually true, and she has already been sold to someone who has a fishing camp in Knight Inlet who intends to use her as part of the fishing camp according to some recent info I was privy to. No doubt there are certain terms of the sale which would stipulate the condition the ship needs to be in in order for the sale to remain legal.

Major service disruptions on route #1 today. Only two ships in operation after CC was pulled from service at 2pm for reasons unknown. CR is currently 1h45m behind schedule. SoVI is 17 minutes late. There is a two sailing wait from SWB and a one sailing wait from TSA.
Service notices are vague as usual.
Update: CR discovered via Siitech at TSA, making CR approximately 30 minutes late rather than 1:45. BCF current conditions page still shows CR as yet-to-depart for its 1pm sailing from SWB. BCF left- hand, meet BCF right-hand.

There was a service notice for the Coastal Renaissance operating as the #1 out of Tsawwassen on Route 1 for a 2 week period. With the events involving the Coastal Celebration, the following service notice has been posted:

This service notice does not make it clear that two other ships are also servicing this route and that full 'amenities' continue to be available on them. I guess everyone is just expected to know that.
They should have someone proof read these before they are released to the public.

They also made the mistake of saying the Queen of New Westminster does not have WiFi when in fact she does...

Man whoever does these service notices seem rather misinformed*! They need better people doing them who know the ships better and make them more clearer to the public!
*Moderator Edited: Removed strong wording.

Link to service notice HERE.If I am reading this notice correctly, the Coastal Renaissance might be on this route longer, mostly due to the damages incurred on the Coastal Celebration. In turn, this might affect the long weekend schedules on Route 2 & 3 since the Queen of Surrey is away on refit and an addiitonal ferry (triangle run) might not be available. Either that, or I'm reading into this too much.

Why istn't the Sof B.C. in service over this time?

Why istn't the Sof B.C. in service over this time? This is only an ammenities notice. The SoBC is referenced here: ...One might question, though, why the New West' wasn't mentioned as offering WIFI as is does. It would make sense to me, I must admit, for them do so in order to not to allow volume to find a preference in the smaller ship when choosing between the CC and New West'.
