I bet someone wrote that in 45 seconds and made a mistake. I certainly tend to agree. My mind went to that likelyhood immediately after my first thought, but I also tend to enjoy playing roles like devil's advocate, straw man, etc., etc.

This latest Service Notice illustrates two things:
1 - BC Ferries is having a lot of trouble issuing coherent messages to the travelling public.
2 - The damage to the C-Cel is more serious then was communicated initially ('operational issue', hard landing, etc.) It appears she will be out of service for the best part of a month. The damage sustained would have to be classified as significant!

At this time RBI is showing the Celebration returning to service on Thursday, which contradicts the latest service notice. Route 2 also shows the CR, Queen of Cowichan, and Queen of Oak Bay servicing route 2 on the upcoming long weekend with the schedule for that route showing as originally planned.
If the CC is off until the end of May, the only way they could maintain the rt2 holiday schedule is if the Surrey was pulled from refit early, even if just for that weekend. But since she is undergoing a major refit, it may not be possible to put her back together on such short notice.
I guess we'll have to keep checking for updates......

With the Coastal Celebration out of service for the next month, the Queen of Surrey is the only viable spare vessel for routes 2 & 3 on the long weekend. This could be a repeat performance from when the Queen of Surrey was removed from service for emergency repairs last year.

Some new stops to Klemtu are in order for the Northern Expedition this summer due to the new berth entering operation. . . Link to service notice HERE.Let's see if these additional stops will smash last year's total of 82 cars at Klemtu!

Perhaps they could pump some large round port holes into the C-Cel's forward end and rename her the M/V Southern Adventure.
It would be nice to know exactly what caused this incident; something more than the 'human error' reason given so far by BCFS.
PS: For moderator consideration - posts in this thread related to the C-Cel's 'hard landing' perhaps should be moved or copied to the dedicated thread?

i was talking with one of the terminal workers the other day when the NIP was first broken down and they said it had to do with air getting into the hydraulic lines that are used for steering

It looks like the Burnaby will be making an appearance at Blubber Bay tomorrow morning. As a result this crossing will be 30-40 minutes longer than scheduled. The subsequent sailing from Westview, normally scheduled for 12:00 departure, will also be approximately 30-40 minutes late. The 3:15 pm sailing from Little River and all subsequent sailings are expected to sail on time. For reservations or additional sailing information visit our web site at www.bcferries.com or call 1-888-BCFERRY (223-3779). Currently running 45m late as of 13:44.
I'm thinking stalled or stuck commercial vehicle. A dead car could be pushed off by hand in much less than 47 minutes.

Long weekend means Murphy's Law strikes again! Very unfortunate for those traveling to and from the Gulf Islands with the Nanaimo breaking down.
The Queen of Cumberland is currently 27 minutes behind schedule. www.bcferries.com/bcfservicenotice?id=465450

I did a rt2 trip today...over on the CR at 1250 and back on the Cowichan at 1640. On board announcements are being made stating that foot passengers, other than those with bicycles/animals/kayaks, etc are no longer permitted to leave the vessel via the car deck. Also, at HSB there is a terminal attendant stationed at the ground level exit to HSB village that is directing all footises (other than those exceptions) to climb the stairs and exit via the overhead walkway through the ticketing building.

"All foot passengers must disembark via the deck 5 foot passenger exit, unless they have bicycles, pets, or are carrying any large cargo or luggage with them."
