Hi forum, I still found yesterday a small photo on the net. Although I could not see everything clearly on it, but I started to build the building. It is certainly not all correspond to reality but I hope it comes close. Here is a picture of the "construction site"

Hi, Manfred, welcome to the forum. The smaller of the two buildings is not part of the Kingston terminal; I believe it belongs to the adjacent yacht club.

Hi Barnacle, you are right. Google Earth says it is the harbor office of the marina. As template for the building I took the bird's eye view from Virtual Earth. Now here's a picture as the buildings look like in the P3D flight simulator. However, the scenery is far from finished. Its a lot to do.

So, what's going to happen with Edmonds? I know I, for one, have been curious about it since the terminal relocation project died 10-11 years ago. There's no mention of relocating the terminal in the new draft long range plan, but there is mention of possibly increasing service with 3 Olympic Class vessels when it comes time to replace Walla Walla and Spokane. The following article published last week examines this issue, and the possibility that the terminal can still be relocated at some future date, as well as providing a little history as to the original project, and what has happened since then. www.heraldnet.com/news/get-a-look-at-an-unspecific-edmonds-ferry-plan/

Here's a look at the Edmonds waterfront, possibly in the 1960s. The caption of this recently bought postcard identifies the ferry as the MV NISQUALLY. During that time, she would be top ferry of the Kingston run before the Supers sent the ILLAHEE and TILLIKUM to there from Winslow in the late 1960s. The NISQUALLY would then head up north to the San Juans to join the VASHON, KLICKITAT, and EVERGREEN STATE.
Pipelines in the foreground were part of the local oil storage industry.

Went up to the northern reaches of the Kitsap Peninsula this afternoon just to get out of town. We walked the Hansville Greenway, then stopped by Kingston on the way back, got ice cream at Mora, and I took a few photos of Kingston. Being that it was Sunday, I was very glad I wasn't trying to catch a ferry there this afternoon...with a vehicle, anyway. At least they're back to 2 boats on the run. Spokane loading vehicles, and a forlorn looking Hyak in the tie-up slip sans her name board

where did her name board go? Name boards are taken and preserved in Eagle Harbor on Bainbridge Island.

where did her name board go? Name boards are taken and preserved in Eagle Harbor on Bainbridge Island. Not always. They're removed from the vessels upon retirement and stored at the WSF warehouse, but it isn't at Eagle Harbor. Some of them get repurposed into displays at the office, I believe the Evergreen State's went to a museum, one from the Quinault from prior to her last refurb got turned into an inlaid table. But Eagle Harbor doesn't have them in storage as far as I know... it isn't a huge facility and doesn't have space to store stuff that isn't in active usage.
