Let us look back to the late 1980s. If you wanted a spa experience, you did have to wander through all the city searching for a good one. And some times you had to leave the city and take a flight/train to the nearby metro just to go to the spa. And mostly, if you were residing in a rural area in 1980s, spa would just have been a word that you heard uttered by someone. But things have changed since then. Though comparatively a new thing, most of the Indians are now acquainted with the spas and the rejuvenating experience they provide. The Ayurvedic spa resorts sprouted out in various parts of the country have become accessible not only to the well-to-do community, but also to the middle class of the Indian society. A visit to an ayurvedic spa resort is no longer considered a luxury or the privilege of the upper class people. There is another notable thing about the Ayurvedic spa resorts – it is not only the local population that is drawn by the facilities provided there. Tourists from all other continents reach India to have the Ayurvedic spa experience. Though the Europeans were acquainted with the Spa experience since 16th century, the Ayurvedic spa was a novel thing and it grew manifold in popularity among them during the last few years. The inflow of thousands of foreigners to the various Ayurvedic spa resorts in the country stand in testimony of the growing popularity of Ayurvedic spas.

Here's your challenge.
- turn this new member into a ferry fan and convince him/her to stop posting spam. I know that you can....

Thanks Salerno, I'm glad that you share my view. I also believe that most of the Mexicans are now acquainted with the grocery markets and that most of the Norwegians are now acquainted with the bowling alleys. hey, what's your favourite ship? yeah, I know, I don't really have to ask, because the answer is "the one where the Indians have spas". ie. the MV Mumbai Spa Princess, a fine ship if there ever was one. I was wondering if you could get us some photos of the Mumbai Spa Princess, hopefully a few shots from different angle. And can you please ask the Mumbai harbour master to please turn the web-camera around so that it gives a better angle of the ship in port? Can you also please send us some sound recordings of the ship sounding her whistle? I want to hear that classic Indian sitar sound on her whistle, sort of like the introduction to "Norwegian Wood" (the song, not the ship). Thanks, and I'm so glad that you joined this forum. Would you like to be a Voyager? We can get you a prime speaking-role on "Ernie's Hour".

I've decided that for the sake of parody and frustrated humour, we can have a thread where the moderators can move the occasional bit of spam that has a humourous touch to it.
- usually the humour is in the poor translation/context part of the spam, such as the "Indians and spas" part of the item that I've already kept in this thread.
This forum gets more spam than most people are aware of (except for guys like "BC in NJ" who gets the early-morning Eastern-time view of the overnight garbage).
So for those spam items that have "this is so useless, that it's funny" qualities, we can mock them here.
.....Ashley Gerrald, this thread's for you ! ;D (he's a West Coast Ferry Forum's hall-of-shame/fame member).

I'm always noticing in the 'newest member' area some poor sap who's name is ignominiously marked in black instead of forum approved blue, and I think, "That mean old Mr Horn's been banishing people again, just because they're trying to transfer their dad's money out of Nigeria or something".
Now we'll get to see their side of the story, and see what we've been missing.

She was very nice- she called me 'dear', even though we'd never met. I'll put her in touch...

Did something happen on Sept 16th that I'm not aware of? I can see the spam, but I'm not sure why Luke was put in charge of it. Last time I checked, he was still just a Quartermaster around here.

Luke made a comment a while ago that new members were being needlessly deleted or quitting in a huff, and that perhaps we could do a better job of turning new members into good forum members. - it was a response by me, made in good fun. I thought that he could start his program with converting the spambots into productive contributors, haha. Is "The Legendary Mill Bay" wanting to become "The Legendary Spambot-Rehabilitator" ?

Ha ha ha, the spambots, there's no hope for them. ;D It's those new members that leave in a huff that I really meant to work on. We could always try to turn a Nigerian scammer into a ferry geek though! ;D

I would change my name to The Authoritative Mill Bay, first, but I would offer one note of caution that is completely serious, and might be that it may not always be the best policy to give every new member the full sarcasm reception on their very first post, as it was that sort of reception that almost made me quit the forum before I started, and it also something I have heard alluded to by at least one person outside the forum who elected not to take out membership because they were smiled upon with a friendly facetious comment whose meaning was difficult to find a context for.

I hear you on the sarcasm towards new members. I'm going to be straight and to-the-point with new legitimate members, from now on. ......but to the obvious spambots, there is no such courtesy. They've joined for one sole purpose, and I intend to respond with disrespect every time. - either with account deletion or by sharing the silly spam with others, so that we can see how funny some of it actually is. And that's serious.
