Two other Fraser River routes, now long gone, that I've not been able to find any photos or info about on the internet:
The Agassiz to Rosedale ferry, replaced by the bridge in 1956, and the ferry which I believe went from the Brownsville area of Surrey to New Westminster, prior to the Pattullo Bridge being constructed. Anyone know anything about these?

Anyone know anything about these? Before the 'Pay Tolla' bridge was built the railway bridge at New Westminster was a combined road/rail bridge. That bridge went into operation in 1904. Presumably a ferry service existed at this site before that time. My mother grew up in the Kennedy area of what is now Surrey. She tells me that there was a very hefty toll to use the new Pattullo Bridge so locals started calling it the 'Pay Tolla'. This was, of course, a play on the actual name, which was named for the then Liberal Premier of the province Thomas 'Duff' Pattullo, who was also the MLA for Prince Rupert. My mother's dad was a staunch supporter of the BC Conservatives, and their leader, the man who had been premier, Simon Fraser Tolmie. He had little use for Pattullo and his Liberal crowd. There is no doubt that he found many reasons to criticize Pattullo's depression mega 'make work' project, the bridge that now bears his name.

Thanks for the info, Jim. I had seen a grainy photo of a ramshackle looking vessel that ferried across the Fraser in the early 1900s, and I assumed that ferry service continued until the Pattullo opened; I didn't realize the rail bridge took vehicles. I'll have to consult Surrey's museum archives to see when ferry service in the Pattullo area actually ended, who ran it, and so forth.
I think Klatawa Teen is right. The T'Lagunna was built in 1931, and was re-named from the "Agassiz" in 1957, when she moved down river.

Just scanned an old Kodachrome last night. Can you guys confirm this as the old Albion ferry? I took the photo sometime in the late 80s on the west side of Vancouver Island, can't remember the exact location. It was at the time the fish farms were first starting up, I think she was being used as a supply boat for that or maybe some logging outfit. i.pbase.com/o4/29/593629/1/61891075.albion.jpg

Wow, that picture looks like it's a picture of a model Ferry, but I know it's not. Neat stuff!

that photo of the vessel on the opening day...sittting in the berth from the air....that one hung in my dads office @ Albion for the entire length of his management career there.....and just to let you guys know...he was there on that day....he spent it all on the albion side parking lot chatting with old friends...i think

Just for the sake of sharing... I was viewing a rather exciting treasure trove again: the flickr photostream of one R.R. Horne, roughly another in the spirit of our wn JST. He consistently posts scanned photos of historical ships and railways subjects, and I believe he even is aware of this forum, because we've discussed him before. Anyway, some links to photos of his related to the Albion Ferry and it's history. First, an chilly shot of T'lagunna www.flickr.com/photos/37908073@N04/3684502423/sizes/l/And Kulleet up and out of the water at Vancouver Shipyards, in MOH colors. www.flickr.com/photos/37908073@N04/3685312726/sizes/l/in/photostream/

Where is the T'lagunna stationed now? Or has been bought up by the same guy that has the sidney rotting away?

Months after I gave up trying to look for the T'Lagunna, it appears she's been right under our noses the whole time! Not in the way we'd like though. Sometime in 2008, she sunk in Darrell Bay, and last week she was raised. Apparently she's still sitting at Darrell Bay, either beached, or on dry land. I assume she's going to be cut up on site and trucked off somewhere. Another sad end to a historic ferry. Here's a Youtube video that was posted: And some photos from the curator of the Maple Ridge Museum and Archives, who originally broke the news: 2011-12-05 Amix Salvage barge in Howe Sound (7) by Luke's Ferries, on Flickr 2011-12-11 Salvage company raises old Barge at Darrell Bay (5) by Luke's Ferries, on Flickr 2011-12-05 Amix Salvage barge in Howe Sound (2) by Luke's Ferries, on Flickr 2011-12-12 Vessel salvaged from the bottom of Darrell bay (3) by Luke's Ferries, on Flickr 2011-12-12 Vessel salvaged from the bottom of Darrell bay by Luke's Ferries, on Flickr 2011-12-11 Salvage company raises old Barge at Darrell Bay (4) by Luke's Ferries, on Flickr 2011-12-11 Salvage company raises old Barge at Darrell Bay (7) by Luke's Ferries, on Flickr 2011-12-07 Amix Salvage Barge in Darrell bay 830am by Luke's Ferries, on Flickr 2011-12-12 Vessel salvaged from the bottom of Darrell bay (2) by Luke's Ferries, on Flickr NOTE: I did not take these photos. She's a ferry FROM the Fraser, but not currently moored there...

Regarding the rumour that I had heard, the guy wasn't too specific, so I don't really know what ship he might have been referring to.
