Does anyone know where Northland Vancouver pier was located? If you look in the Northland thread, you'll see a schedule from 1962 which gives the address of the 'Northland Pier' as 2285 Commissioner Street, which is very close to the foot of Nanaimo Street. It also has 'Terminal Two' at the foot of Carrall Street. So perhaps they used two docks.

Did some quick research and Terminal Two' at the foot of Carrall Street was formerly the Union Steamships pier until that company was merged into Northland Navigation in 1959.

Northland Prince going under the Lions Gate Bridge at the entrance to Vancouver Harbour. This vessel connected lots of little places up the coast with Vancouver during the 1960's & 70's.
12 September 1966
photographer thought to be Don J Brown, Mr DOT collection

Wow, I remember seeing this ship as a kid living in Port Hardy from 1967-69, but probably when I was on the Island Princess.

Interesting stuff regarding Northland Navigation .....
I would be interested if anyone (and probably nobody does) has any information regarding a Northland Navigation ships captain by the name of Captain Harold Evans, he would have been with Northland Navigation in the late 1950's ? ............thanks

My father, Carl Banta, worked for Northland for about 15-16 years from the late forties to the mid sixties. He worked his way up from deckhand to captain. Ended his time with them as master of Tahsis Prince. When I was a child, I accompanied him on annual summer cruises on whatever run he was working. I remember sailing on the old Island Prince, the Pacific Prince and the Haida Prince as well as the Tahsis. He died in 1986. I'm wondering if there is anybody out there who might remember him. I will try to find some old photos and get them up on this thread. This is the ONLY forum I could find when I googled Northland Navigation. The Vancouver Maritime Museum has NOTHING.

Welcome to the Forum! It is always great to hear of someone's personal ties to our coastal shipping community. I have never used the Vancouver Maritime Museum for research, but am dismayed at your report that you found nothing on Northland Navigation, that is very sad. Shame on them!

Starsteward, this new member, 'Kenneth', has actually just reposted what another member posted ten years ago, without adding anything of his own. Maybe he inadvertently left his comments out.
