I DO NOT MIND ANY OF THE FORUM ADHERENTS USING MY PICS. OR MY DRAWINGS, SOME CREDIT IS NICE IF POSSIBLE. DAVID O.THORNE, MR.DOT. It is sad that individuals like this "James Fisher" person upload photos that are not his property for his own personal purposes. While this individual does not appear to have an account on this forum, if anyone has any information on what his intended purpose is of using these stolen photos or knows this Photobucket account holder personally, please PM me via the forum...

I have been clicking on something labelled as 'Report Inappropriate Contact', and then clicking on 'Infringes on my copyright' while viewing James Fisher's poached photos. Whether or not photobucket uses this to actually 'discipline' the poacher I do not know. So far the evidence is that they do nothing.
I, and it seams most others here, do not mind others using my photos for purposes such as putting up as your desktop, and so forth. Taking my photos and putting them up on a website and passing them off as your own, however, is way beyond what I would consider as acceptable. It is clear also that my brother is not happy about this.
If photobucket does not 'do the right thing' we may need to put pressure on them. Perhaps threatening to delete our accounts might help.
PS: I have no clue who this guy is. I am fairly sure that he is not a WCFF member. It looks as though he may be a resident of the UK.

Scott, my guess is he likes ferries; so copied a bunch of photos from his web search and put them on his page.
I would contact photobucket. But if he is not doing anything commercial; up to you guys.
Then again, it is your photos.

Whether or not photobucket uses this to actually 'discipline' the poacher I do not know. So far the evidence is that they do nothing. Clicking the Report Inappropriate Content option and selecting Infringes on my copyright takes you to this page. This is the information that needs to be filled out by the copyright holder and then needs to be sent to abuse@photobucket.com. You then need to wait to hear back from their legal department. It is a slow process... I, and it seams most others here, do not mind others using my photos for purposes such as putting up as your desktop, and so forth. Taking my photos and putting them up on a website and passing them off as your own, however, is way beyond what I would consider as acceptable. It is clear also that my brother is not happy about this. Same here. Uploading it to a computer and using it for backgrounds is fine, and if forum members would like full-size photos for that purpose they are welcome to contact me about getting those. The problem I have, like everyone else, is when my images are being uploaded to the internet without my permission. After all, if it is already uploaded, what is the point of uploading it to the internet again unless you have plans for using that photo elsewhere. I know a lot of us have invested a lot of time and money into our photography, not to mention the cost of ferry fares alone. To have someone disregard our property and do whatever the heck they want with those photos really annoys me...

This may be an old thread, but it is certainly applicable to what I'm going to post! I am happy (and excited) to re- launch my photo website! Some of you may remember that I was one of the many who had a fotopic website, which went down in 2011. It may sound a bit dumb, but I was seemingly bitter after this happened, and figured it would be far too much work to create another website like the one I had. Also thoughts along the lines of "ah, who wants to see my not so good photos anyways" and negative stuff like that prevented me from creating a new website. Until now. 75-85% of the photos posted would have been on my fotopic site, meaning that they are somewhat 'old news'. But since the closure of fotopic, I have been on a couple of ferry trips, of which are included many photos here. Also photos of the Queen of Vancouver at Woodfibre, and the Queen of Saanich's last days when I was able to get onboard. Compared to my last photo website, I've tried to stick to the guideline of posting mostly photos that are of good quality. Because I had bugged Curtis and Graham for pre-MLU interior photos, I thought it only right to post mine. So included are interior photos of the 3 V's, as well as the Queen of New Westminster pre-MLU. Without further adieu, here it is: www.flickr.com/photos/seangoerzen/albumsI will say, that it is still a little bit 'under construction'. Almost none of the photos are labeled. I will try to get to that in the next week. But I figured, since most of you have been on way more ferry trips than me, that you will all know what the pictures are of! I hope to also add a few more albums in the future of more photos I have (Ministry of Transportation photos, etc). And one last thing - I am open to anyone using/taking my photos, as long as I get a little notice (this is simply a confidence boost that will make me feel special! ) Queen of Nanaimo Teen (In reality I am 22 years old now, and no longer a teenager. But, I like the name, so I think I'll keep it for awhile!)

I shoot a lot of stills and video - that's what I do as a photojournalist and videographer. I have a passion for trains, ferries, fishing and tug boats, air planes, and pretty much all things industrial. If it's what the uniformed refer as geeky, well, I'm in!. You're a welcome and valuable addition to our forum here. Every once in a while things click like this, where a person has the same key interests here, as many of us. ie. not just ferries, but the trains and planes and other ships too. I appreciate your steady video clips and your lovely perspectives on coastal life. And of course your professionism in how you present your work. I love learning from other peoples' examples. Cheers !
