There's a cheesy Christian-values 1978 film that has some Route-1 footage. I think the movie is called "the other side of the mountain - Part 2", and is about a quadriplegic lady (no, not Joni Earickson), who falls in love with a truck driver guy..... Review here: www.imdb.com/title/tt0078044/plotsummaryThe route-1 footage showed them driving on a V-class and then had a shot of the ship in the gulf-islands. I'm sure that everyone has seen that movie. ;D

Here's an interesting little animation somebody did of an "S" Class vessel.
Oh, BTW, I uploaded a video of the CR about a week ago.
I also thought I'd note I added a new page to my website (get there by clicking on my sig) for my Youtube Videos. It's alot easier seeing my vids on there than on a separate page.

Thanks for the tour rt1commuter. It's nice to be able to see the ship in operation from the inside, with passengers wandering the decks. The last time, and only time so far, that I was aboard the Norex, was back in April, not long after the Norex arrived in Departure Bay. The Institute I was undergoing training at for my Bridge Watchmans certification allowed myself and the rest of my class to get access of the vessel when she was docked at Departure Bay. Youtube videos? OK, here's a bridge tour of the Queen of Surrey.

Not sure if this has been mentioned already, so mods, please delete it if it's already been mentioned. I'm also not sure if youtube user "VancouversLocalNerd" is on this forum, but he has some excellent HD videos on BC Ferries. SOVI passing SOBC: Coastal Inspiration departing Tsawwassen: SOBC and Queen of Nanaimo racing to Tsawwassen: Boarding the SOBC + Queen of Nanaimo departure: Queen of Capilano departing Horseshoe Bay: If "VancouversLocalNerd" is on this forum, I just want to say keep up the great videos.

Here's one for the younger members who hope to make raps about Ferries one day.
Sounds to me the chorus "lyrics" follow along the lines of, "Ride down to Horseshoe Bay, make sure you in the right berth. Are we at the terminal? First, gotta make it to the Island..."

"Ride down to Horseshoe Bay, Make sure you in 'da right berth Are we at the terminal? First, gotta make it to the Island, it's summertime, and e'rebody's smilin', workin' on the ferry, put the money in yo pocket, Head's flyin' higher than the pilot in the cockpit, They're corrupt, put four dollars in ma' wallet, [slurred speech] your burger and fries, don't forget the gravy on the side, drop it down on my tray and slide, and then go wait in line, then you know it does taste just fine, so don't complain because it just waste time, [slurred speech regarding a spaceship and getting drunk/down?] [something about a catalog] [repeat from top] there's more verses, but it's you guys can distinguish all that yourselves, and post it here

housekeeping item:
- Please put your video posts into the ship-specific threads, if it's mainly of a certain ferry, and if you feel it enhances the visual-record of the ship in that thread.
I'll be moving some of the earlier video posts, in the coming weeks.

Queen of New Westminster or Queen of Nanaimo? I know it wouldn't be any other V/B-class due to the fact that there's still the solariums in place. So, can anyone confirm the ship?

From the "Tribute videos" thread One more song I like! Christopher Cross "Sailing" relaxing song that makes me think about being out on the water and sailing whether on a ferry or sailboat. I've seen Karl mention that this is his favourite song a number of times on here. Well, someone finally put a video together with this song.

Same Youtube use that uploaded the footage of the Mill Bay from various movies, then removed and re-added it later... maybe it's a bizarre trend.

Hey,
I made the video. Youtube has some really high tech system that can detect copyright infringement instantly! It blocked it almost right away after I posted. If anyone has any suggestions for less strict websites, let me know and I'll post it.

Since many people on this forum have been quite protective about their photographs, I would assume we're not big on copyright infringement, period.

Hey, I made the video. Youtube has some really high tech system that can detect copyright infringement instantly! It blocked it almost right away after I posted. If anyone has any suggestions for less strict websites, let me know and I'll post it. Upload the video to your facebook. When you're on the page where you can view your video on facebook, click on 'embed video'. A little window will pop up. Copy the text in the text-box. Paste it into a forum reply. You'll get something like this: Find the URL to your video in there. I highlighted it in red in the above text. Now delete all the other random stuff that you pasted, and leave only the URL. You'll have this: www.facebook.com/v/1661698349648 Now just put URL tags around it, and people can click the link to your video www.facebook.com/v/1661698349648(The video I just posted is me navigating the Queen of Chilliwack last November. For the privacy of myself and the crew, I'm going to modify this post with a fake video URL in a few days. Until then, enjoy this )

Have at 'er! I wish I could share this worldwide better than this.
Thanks man!
==============
[moderator edit: to remove item that was a deliberate attempt to get around a copyright issue. I'm following the rule that is on the top of this photo page, and that is also echoed on many people's personal signatures regarding unauthorized use. I'm making us a bit more consistent on this issue]

Have at 'er! I wish I could share this worldwide better than this. Thanks man! Are you concerned about copyright issues ? Neil's point makes me wonder about why some uses of other people's property seems ok, while others are not. I myself copy many a newspaper article. - I'm just musing on the ethics of it all. But if Youtube killed a video (this one) because of copyright issues, that's probably a good indication that you should consider the ethics of the issue, instead of just instantly turning to Facebook. So, that being said: how do you feel about the issue ? Really, I'm interested. (and remember, your audience here is a bunch of photographers who don't like their work being used without permission....)

I think they are only bits and pieces; not like putting a whole movie up for free, in fact it may encourage people to rent or buy the movie itself.
My prof can photocopy up to 15% of a textbook legally and distribute it to an entire class.
Some of these movies are 3 or 4 decade old. Anyone who wants to see them has seen them by now.
I put alot of hard work into this video. I was expecting a way more positive response from this board.

When your prof is copying and distributing others' content for your classes, he is following the Cancopy agreement. www.mpsd.ca/districtinformation/pdf/procs/AP304.pdfI know that document is for Mission Public Schools, but the regulations stated in it apply to all institutions in BC (or Canada? Not sure about that part.) But yea, don't say we don't like your compilation, it's fantastic! Hey, while we're off topic from the main point of this thread, could we have this thread renamed to properly present the 'YouTube' (no, not 'You tube') brand, or remove it altogether, leaving just 'Ferry Videos'? Or we could just tear through this thread, and move all the videos that we can to their ferry-specific threads, leaving this only for those films that show too many ships to be able to choose a single thread?

I put alot of hard work into this video. I was expecting a way more positive response from this board. Hey, we ask lots of questions. That doesn't mean it's negative. We just like to discuss things, as well as admire things. Well, some of us like to admire things more than to discuss them (Chetzemoka!), so I guess there is a balance. Welcome here.
