...and here's a clean view of 2 complete transits of Active Pass, seen from Galiano.
- C-Cel and New West and - Spirits
I think this 10x speed gives a nice view of the transit, especially how the south-west bound ship adjusts course before making the turn to leave the pass at Helen Point.

Here's my BCF compilation video of ships at the Helen Point end of Active Pass.
I filmed this on July 12 & 13, 2016 from the cemetery on Galiano Island. For the most part, these scenes are sped-up four-times.
The ship identities should be obvious, with the Spirit-twins and the Coastal Celebration - Queen of New Westminster combo appearing every other time, plus appearances by three Gulf Island ferries (Queen of Cumberland, Mayne Queen, Queen of Nanaimo).
Galiano Island is a great place to watch the ships in this picturesque waterway.

I'm new to this forum but not new to BC ferries. I use them quite a few times during the summer months while on my motorcycle or car trips etc. Here are three videos I took back in August of 2013 at Kootenay Bay Landing with the MV Balfour.
Loading up the vehicles
Most of the loading is complete as I'm viewing the vehicles from one of the upper decks.
MV Balfour has turned a 180 from the landing and now heads across Kootenay Lake. We were a bit behind schedule so some speed was in order.

Departing the MV Balfour in summer of 2011 while on a bike tour into BC. We then head west out of Balfour on Highway 31, eventually ending up in Nelson.

An old video I took back in the summer of 2008. An early morning trip on the Needles cable ferry from Faquier over to Needles.

On the Coastal Celebration back in the summer of 2010. This short video shows the ferry pulling away from the terminal at Swartz Bay.

At the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal during the summer of 2012. After paying at the booth this video shows me riding down the lower section of the terminal in the number one lane.

It's been awhile since I have posted anything, so...
I was sitting at Georgina Point on Mayne Island watching the world go by - this was shot well before nautical sunset, but it looks like dusk due to the smoke from the forest fires burning in the BC interior.
Why two versions of the same video? Simply because the most marketable video lengths are around 30 seconds and 90 seconds...

For some of our younger (and maybe older) members on here! Came across this on YouTube last night. Neat shots of some of the older ships (Nanaimo, Vancouver) As well as the Spirit, Coastal Renaissance and Queen of Capilano. Please note the "Fake" horn sounds

Someone has uploaded the "Welcome Aboard" VHS to YouTube. This was sold in the gift shops in the mid 90's...

Similar to a video on Ship's Whistles, I did a different kind of ferry-sounds video:
While up on the Bluffs of Galiano Island, I was impacted by the sounds of the ships, especially in the quiet of the evening. You can hear a ship (and feel it) before you see it.
There's a similarity with trains in this regard, being able to hear and feel before you see an approaching train.
So I clipped some video together to illustrate this. I enjoy those sounds.
(sorry about the camera shutter of my stills camera working too close to the video camera)

Boarding Queen of Cowichan at Horseshoe Bay (07-27-2018)
Disembarking Queen of Cowichan at Departure Bay. We were among the last off, so you can see cars boarding the upper ramp as we were driving off

From Thursday, July 26: boarding Salish Eagle at Long Harbour for the 14:30 direct to Tsawwassen sailing. Sadly, did not get to drive down into the garage. There weren't enough cars for them to open up the garage deck - everyone was on the main vehicle deck. And, I also shot a quick video of us disembarking Eagle on the Tsawwassen side. That was a really nice cruise, and my first time on Salish Eagle. I like the Salish class vessels, outside of the annoying doors to the outside decks (beep, beep, beep). The vessels themselves are really quiet on the inside, and have a lot of outdoor deck space. Our sailing wasn't particularly full, but I can see how it would feel kind of cramped on the inside if it were a full vessel. There isn't a tremendous amount of indoor seating, so thankfully, they do have all of that outdoor space, especially when the weather is as nice as it has been of late.

Here's a ferry video uploaded to YouTube by forum member @chase . How many photos created by and belonging to other forum members can you find in this video? That's a lot of different permissions to ask for, and photo credits to give. Balfour for Salish Eagle. Scott for SoVI, Mayne Queen, Bowen Queen, Powell River Queen, Queen of Capilano, Queen of Oak Bay, Queen of Alberni, Queen of Cowichan, Queen of New Westminster, Kahloke, Baynes Sound Connector, Quadra Queen II, Quinitsa, and Tachek. WettCoast for Queen of Cumberland. Mike C for Queen of Cowichan. --------------- late edit: video was deleted from the member's YouTube account.

Big thanks to forum member Charles for alerting me to the unauthorized use (theft) of one of my YouTube ferry videos. A different YouTube account had re-posted one of my videos as their own, without my consent. YouTube was simple and swift with my copyright infringement claim, and the offending video deleted within 16 hours of my complaint. I like that good service. For those wondering, the offending account is: Thief HereI'm posting this, just in case others might know who this offender is, and so that others can watch out for similar theft of their own creative property.

With all of the extra time on my hands I have been going through my videos, and created a new channel toward this end: www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLLfBylrafo4BUR7zqneu4dXbILWNRI-86I have re-uploaded the welcome announcements I had on my other channel, and have added a few videos that I took on the last couple of trips. Enjoy!
