Didn't know where to put this, as I couldn't find a thread for ferry songs, and there's no historical thread for Black Ball vessels in general.
EDIT: I see the words to this song were posted in a thread about ship themed music ten years ago. Maybe the song is somewhere as well.)

Vashon Thriftway (grocery store) updated the checkout line signs several years ago with ones that have pictures of ferries that have served Vashon Island. This is one of them: Checkout line signage w/ferry by LB Bryce, on Flickr The Hiyu pictured here is *not* the one that served the Tahlequah/Pt. Defiance route, but is the one that was built in 1924.

I work at that store and got to help out with this project of naming our check stands after these different ferries. It was so much fun!

Does anyone know if there was a ferry service in the Agate Pass? Wikipedia says there was one from the 1920's to 1950 till the Agata Pass bridge was built. Don't really trust it and asking if the terminals and ferry or ferries existed. Where were the terminals anyway?

Don't really trust it and asking if the terminals and ferry or ferries existed. Where were the terminals anyway? Not necessarily in Agate Pass. But it looks like there was a car ferry between Fletcher Bay (just south of Battle Point) and Brownsville (East of Silverdale) prior to the completion of the bridge. Service was likely run by the original Hiyu for most of that time based on very limited information I could find (University of Washington). From what I can piece together, it seems Hiyu never re-entered service after the war. So I’m not as sure what the route looked like from 1942-Bridge opening.
