(stretccccccchhh...) Eewwaughhh... So whaddy say Flugel? A nice picnic out there at Neck Point Park around 2 this afternoon? Wanna call Scott to join us? Bring the Hibachi and a bag of Kingsford charcoal so we can throw few burgers on... Even better that I have a head-cold today. Makes for a better experience in the outdoors. - Maybe I should go to Rathtrevor today, to suntan instead.? Or take a drive out to Saltspring and try your hand at paragliding down Mount Maxwell. Should be fun, especially if you aim near Swartz Bay, you can get some great photos from up there! ;D

Route #1 service resumed westbound with the sailing of SOBC at 2:19pm. 2.5h wait for route #1 eastbound.
Update @ 3:10pm: 3pm Coastal sailings canceled on route #1. 3pm eastbound sailing canceled on route #2. No status on 3pm westbound sailing from HSB.
Update @ 4:18pm: 1 and 30 halted until at least 5pm. 2 halted until at least 7pm. No 30 service today.
Update @ 5:43pm: 1/2/30 scrubbed until at least 7pm/7pm/8:15pm sailings. Route 9 canceled for the day. HSB - Bowen & Langdale services unaffected despite strong gusts here in Howe Sound.
Update @ 7:06pm: No movements. Several minor routes (Brentwood-Mill Bay, Comox-Powell River) have been shut down for the day. All major route ferries except SOBC are in their home terminals. There is no indication whether BCFS will run any sailings tonight once the weather improves or if they'll tell everyone to come back tomorrow.
Update @ 9:21pm. Major route service resumed. 1 east restarted at 8pm by SOBC with follow-on sailings at 9pm and 10:45. 1 west restarted at 9pm by CR with a CC sailing at 10:45. Route 30 west resumed at 8:15. Route 30 east resumed at 8:32. Route 2 east resumed by Cowichan at 9pm with no extra sailings. Route 1 west resumed by Oak Bay with a 10:45pm sailing by Cowichan.
If I'm reading this right, the Cowichan and Oak Bay will be either deadheading very late at night or will be overnighting at their away terminals.
Update at @ 11:06pm. Additional in-service sailings at 10:45 added on route 2 to get Oak Bay and Cowichan back to their home terminals.

Alberni is very late due to mechanical problems and is managing only 15 kts. Final sail from DPB is not expected until after midnight. Possible engine failure?
Live conditions is also claiming that the Cumberland is three hours late departing SWB for Otter Bay (Pender) but I rather suspect somebody at SWB failed to enter Cumberland's departure time about three hours ago....

There's no service notice about it yet, but Coastal Renaissance is running around half an hour late or more right now.
There was a report of a person in the water around 1:15pm just off of Sturdies Bay. From the looks of it, the Renaissance was tasked to investigate. However vessels, Renard 58, Wolf 59, Caribou 57, Siyay, CG Sealion, and CCGS Cape Naden are all currently searching the Northern Entrance of Active Pass for the person.

Timely communication, this was only posted within the last half hour, a little over twelve hours before the last service notice indicated by implication that our Queen of Burnaby would be back online and almost a full day after that PR Peak article was posted on her being out for several more days...
Fortunately the Reservations & Schedules page had been updated, including mention of a "charter vessel" from Westview at 0830 and a return from Little River at 1730 (you might get a chuckle at the listed 15 minute crossing time) which presumably is our Tachek running for commercial customers only. Too bad for commercial customers there's no mention anywhere of that being a sailing for them specifically.

They've added two sailings with a second ferry as well, but there are no revisions as yet to the Texada schedule.

Of course, the chartered flights, thanks for the clarification.

Is it just me or is this notice convoluted beyond recognition, atleast to the general public? I'm not simply trying to find fault here as it might seem. I'm genuinely trying to decipher the message. One question to start might be: If our ' Burnaby is set to return on Monday according to the latest service notice for that route, then why does this service notice (posted within hours of the one implying that service to / from Comox would return to normal on Monday) seem to contradict it and the Reservations and Schedules page online? Apparently this notice is regarding the schedule posted through the Reservations and Schedules page which lists our Tachek as running a couple of r/ts with our NIP on Monday. If I were a layman on the matter, didn't go out of my way to watch a local news agency such as CHEK as I do or didn't refer to the valuable resource that is our ferry forum - basically, if I relied on BC Ferries' website alone as you would think should be enough - I'd be left scratching my head. Again with the timely and quality communication. "...Friday ... in order for the vessel to complete one round trip sailing to Comox ... for the purpose of validating the upcoming modified schedule that comes into affect on Monday..."

Is it just me or is this notice convoluted beyond recognition, atleast to the general public? Haha, convoluted really is tough to understand. Yes it is. But back to the ferry notice for the Tachek: - On its own, I thought it was ok. It refers to the Tachek doing a test-run today. Like you've said, the only confusion is because the other-notice for the Comox route has not yet been updated. It still says that the 'Burnaby is only out-of-service until Feb.12th. (this needs to be extended by a week). Yes, BCFS needs to update the service notice for the Comox route. For this recent Powell River matter, I've found their official notices slow (and still behind the times, re the above item). The CBC News and the Powell River Peak had the story of the extended Burnaby repairs (the drydock visit) at least a day before there was any mention on the BCFS website. ps: - The BCFS website has it correct on the Comox-Westview schedule page. It's just that the service-notice is still outdated. But the schedule page is correct. Hence the confusion.

I never thought that I would see the two words 'sewage' & 'enhancement' used in the same sentence. Thank you BCFS!
