Hey, me and family are thinking about going camping in Inland Lake Provincial Park during the Canada day long weekend. While it busy or not? It's probably safe to say almost any provincial campground will be busy this weekend

Hey guys So, Tomorrow, I leave for my annual trip to Whistler for ski lift riding, and I have decided to throw a Langdale ferry ride into my plans. I want to do a round trip between Horseshoe bay and Langdale, on the same boat both ways. (I wish I could ride both but I have friends coming on this trip with me who are not particularly enthusiastic about spending two hours at the Langdale ferry terminal.) Anyways, I am hoping to take the 3:45, or, failing that, the 5:50 out of Horseshoe bay. I assume that the 3:45 and 5:50 become the 4:45 and 6:55 out of Langdale, respectively. So, I am wondering, which boat will I be on and do any of you have any advice? Thanks.

You'll be on the Queen of Surrey (better than the Coquitlam). And yes, you're correct about the schedule.

I'm looking into moving to Powell River for work and was just wondering if I were to be coming back to Vancouver for a weekend does anyone know how busy the sailings on Friday from Saltery Bay at 5:30 and Sunday from Earls Cove at 4:30 are?

Any recommendations on what time to take the ferry from comox-Powell river when it's not to busy I will tell you the obvious, but not likely the most convenient: First sailing of the day from Comox (6:15am or so) is very quiet Last sailing of the day from Powell River (8:45pm) is usually quiet.

Is the 10 quiet on Sundays The 10 AM sailing on Sundays is probably quieter. But if travelling with a car get there a little early to be sure that you will get on. There is a bonus too, as you will have time for photos as the new girl arrives ...

Anyone know how busy the Bowen Queen has been on Route 7?
I'm visiting the Sunshine Coast next Friday (March 2) and spending a night in Egmont and checking out Skookumchuck Narrows before catching the ferry to Saltery Bay and then onto the 5:15pm from Powell River. Because of the timing for viewing the tide at the Narrows, I'll probably just miss the 12:40pm sailing from Earls Cove. What are the odds of the Bowen being too full and me missing the 2:40pm?
I have reservations for the Powell River sailing.

I have reservations for the Powell River sailing. I’d say your odds are good for making the 2:40 should you not waste too much time. The Bowen, while smaller than the Sky isn’t nearly as much of a downgrade in capacity as say the North Island Princess would be. I’d argue the Bowen’s capacity is closer to what the actual capacity numbers are for Route 7 at this time of year excluding holidays and long weekends. The best advice I can give for your situation is to keep track of the connecting ferry traffic from Horseshoe Bay. Most of the traffic for the 2:40 sailing will come from the 11:55 sailing from Horseshoe Bay. Assuming that sailing is on time, ferry traffic from that sailing will start arriving around 1:50 or so. If you arrive at or any time before then, you should be fine. There is always the chance the previous sailing left a lot of vehicles behind, but you should still be fine as long as you don’t arrive after the 11:55 traffic does. If you have an overheight vehicle however, I’d advise you get to the terminal sooner due to the limited amount of overheight space on the Bowen.

No overheight for me and I'll definitely get to Earls Cove way before the traffic from Horseshoe Bay. I've never been to the Sunshine Coast despite living on Vancouver Island pretty much my whole life. I'm excited that I get to ride 4 different ferries to do a round trip from Victoria.

So I am planning on taking a day trip up the Sunshine Coast this summer by taking the ferry from Horseshoe Bay to Langdale and then driving from Langdale to Earls Cove and then taking the ferry from Earls Cove to Saltery Bay and then driving from Saltery Bay to Westview in Powell River and taking that ferry to Comox. The question that I have is how busy does the Earls Cove-Saltery Bay run get and how busy does the Powell River-Comox get because I am just wondering if in case the ferry from Earls Cove-Saltery Bay gets full then I know what to expect and I want to know for Powell River to Comox so I know if I should make a reservation or not.

The Earls Cove-Saltery Bay route to my knowledge does not overload too often during the Summer. As long as your vehicle is not outside the holding lot you should make the sailing. Even if there is an overload you should make it onto the following sailing. Whether you make your connection at Earls Cove is most dependent on the conditions of the Horseshoe Bay-Langdale route that day. A late ferry or an overload could make you miss your connection. The most likely reason for an overload at Earls Cove is if two sailings from Horseshoe Bay connect with one at Earls Cove. For example: the 2:25 and 3:15 from Horseshoe Bay connect with the 6:00/6:30 from Earls Cove. In this case, aim for the 2:25, at least if the ferry is late, you should still make the 6:00/6:30 connection. Whether you make a reservation for that earlier sailing is up to you, if not, try to get to Horseshoe Bay at least an hour early. As for Earls Cove make sure you get there before the vehicles from the 2nd connection get there. The drive between Langdale and Earls Cove usually takes 1 hour and 15 minutes. If there is no second connection, try not to waste too much time on your drive to Earls Cove.
As for Powell River-Comox, I haven't taken this route a lot during Summer recently, but since the Salish Class took over, there has been an increase in Summer overloads. I find that people tend to get in line early for sailings, though I'm sure most that do this are locals that want to guarantee they get on the sailing. Most of the overloads on this route usually depend on events going on around Powell River, on Texada Island or in Courtenay/Comox. The 8:05 is usually pretty busy for people heading out of town and going to appointments on the Island, the 11:50 can also be busy. Try to get to the terminal at least 50 minutes early. If you don't want to wait that long though, get a reservation.

Hi, I am thinking of taking a round trip to Langdale as a footsie, what is the proper procedure for boarding the same ship on the return. Do I need a boarding pass, and if so where do I obtain one?
I plan on disembarking the vessel at Langdale.

I plan on disembarking the vessel at Langdale. Generally a return ticket is purchased in the gift shop staff they are a font of information. Note there is exactly ZIP to see/do in Langdale unless you're taking the bus into Gibsons (or a water taxi somewhere).

I plan on disembarking the vessel at Langdale. Once you disembark at Langdale (via the main vehicle deck) all you need to re-board is to grab a boarding pass. (No payment necessary at Langdale) They can be easily obtained at the press of a button from a set of kiosks around berth 1. Alternatively, if you’re just getting off then getting back on, you can stay onboard during unloading/loading as long as you notify a crew member that you’re staying onboard. Just let the chief steward know and you should be fine. You may have to disembark anyway if crew change occurs prior to your return sailing. In which case, refer to what I said above.

Is there any way to do a foot passenger round trip on the Malaspina Sky from Earls Cove without getting off the ferry? I have done it on other routes before but on the Malaspina Sky there is no gift shop to buy return tickets and it's not a free return from Saltery Bay.

Haven’t personally done it myself, but I expect they’d be able to do it as long as it’s not the sailing prior to the afternoon crew change.
