Since the Super-Cs were designed with transit through Active Pass in mind, I bet you she'll go through Active Pass.

O.k., this is just something funny. The voyage summary says: The voyage has included stops for refuelling at Brunsbuettel, Germany; Las Palmas, Canary Islands; and Cristobal, Panama. The vessel went through the Panama Canal on November 21, and has been sailing up the west coast of Central and North America to British Columbia. Expected arrival date is Thursday, December 12.And There is also now a link on BCFerries homepage that says: Viewing Opportunities: Coastal Renaissance to arrive in BC Thursday, Dec 12 >>Funny thing is, December 12th isn't a Thursday... it's today, Wednesday. So for anyone who actually wants to see the ship arrive, you might have to go through a time-warp or enter the twilight zone to see it. ;D www.bcferries.com/files/AboutBCF/newbuild/07-084MACRenaissancePublicEEOpportunities.pdf

I am afraid she will take the easy route for now Pilot or no Pilot. Active Pass may just wait until she has a BC Ferries Skipper on board doing the "driving"

I think I might go down to clover point or somewhere on Dallas road here in Victoria to get some pictures as she goes by tomorrow morning.

I am looking to see which BC-based forum member gets the first photo up on this thread tomorrow morning. It ought to be one of those of you who are in the Victoria area. Providing the weather is co-operative (and the early morning light, as well), the viewing should be good from Beacon Hill Park right through to the Victoria (Oak Bay) Golf Club, and beyond. The view will possibly be close to perfect right from my mother's front deck on Gonzales Bay. It is just in front of her place where pilots are picked up/dropped off. View from my Mom's front porch - Mercury - 3 May 2007 love to be there... JST photo ©If I was there I would camp out at Clover Point or one of the rocky headlands just to the east. Will you be ther Karl? Nick? others?

Well, I see that they have fixed their time and date announcement, so we at least don't have to leave our space-time continuum to photograph the CR arriving. There is also now a link on BCFerries homepage that says: Viewing Opportunities: Coastal Renaissance to arrive in BC Thursday, Dec 12 >>Funny thing is, December 12th isn't a Thursday... it's today, Wednesday. I don't have to work tomorrow, but unfortunately that's only because I have to attend a First Aid class:/ I'm sending my wife shopping downtown tomorrow though... with a detour;)

Isn't anyone going to try and get the best view, by looking down at her, from the Lions Gate Bridge? :-\
I'd be down there in a heartbeat, but I have a full day of work tomorrow, now that I'm done with school.

My exam doesn't start until 1330 tomorrow, so I am going to head down to Clover point to watch her pass by Victoria and maybe pick up her pilot in the morning.
I kinda wish she got here on the weekend so I could watch her in a better location, but that is the way the wind blew for this trip.

Personally I wish she was arriving later in the morning! I will also try and be down there too Nick at Clover Point to watch her sail by. Then I am heading to Nanaimo to see her arrive at Deaprture Bay.

I think I will mossy on down to Canada Place and take some photos of her from there. Lions Gate would be excellent, but a very very hefty walk.

That's probably where I'd go if I could. Prospect Point for her arrival and then go on the bridge as she sails out of the harbour.

Well, she should pass Victoria within the next hour, so it looks like it might be a little dark to take photos unless they are planning to hold position for a media photo op.
Okay, she's dragging her feet; where will they be picking up the pilot, again?

She will pick up her pilot just off Victoria harbour.
*Since they advertised 8am pst I would think she will diddle around until then. I am sure TV crews etc. will be out.

I had it up earlier BCinNJ but couldn't control the cam for some reason. I got tired of looking at seals, listening to seals and I told Chris I was sure I could smell the seals.

Yes, someone definitely likes the seals. I had control of it for a minute earlier, and it worked well the first time, but then I had troubles with it the second time, and the java applet crashed IE.

Well, I just got back from Clover Point. She hung around the entrance to the harbour for a while, and I saw the pilot boat go back into the harbour from running the pilot out to meet her. I met Karl and got some decent photos of her going by. She sounded her nice 3 tone horn for all to hear, responded by the cars parked behind me. She looks good though... looking forward to the open houses.
I'll upload the photos tonight.

If only they'd had an aerial photography crew that was feeding live onto the internet, or a real time satellite view of her at a scale that we could actually see the ship in, then we could've had the whole route staked out.
