haha, SiiTech is your friend. - She is either "New Dynamic" or "Maverick Guardian." Nanaimo harbour parking-lot is down to two freighters now. At one time earlier this year, there were five. It is the Maverick Guardian, according to 'Marine Traffic', which I think has a better service than that offered by SiiTech.
This year is the 100 anniversary of a number of notable and infamous events, the Komogata Maru, the sinking of the Empress of Ireland & the outbreak of the Great War being three examples...

Coastal Inspiration arrives safely at Duke Point (we can't take that for granted ) in this video that I shot. I was not hoping to see Coastal-Contact, and she provided a nice view of arriving/departing and her time working her traffic.

The first part of this is the Coastal Inspiration leaving Duke Point, on her 10:15am sailing. - I am at Malaspina Galleries point.

C'Inspiration's bridges, seen on the 10:45PM sailing from Tsawwassen to Duke Point, on June 6, 2014. I am positioned at the end of the upper vehicle deck. These are all HDR time exposures. ------------ The working bridge. - the radar is nice blurred circle -------------- The non-working bridge. The radar is still. - someone was in there for a few moments, and the reddish night-lights were on. I was happy to capture them in my shot. - same camera settings as above photo ------ A bit of a star show. - time exposure increased to 6.0 seconds.

Coastal Inspiration's horn (twice) and welcome/safety announcements. - the latter part of the safety announcement is hard to hear because of the wind. But the first part is ok.

The ferry-horn fetish is popular on the internet. Any videos of mine that feature ship horns are my top viewed videos. It is a huge niche of ferry videos; same thing likely for train whistles. Same thing likely for ferries in heels.

In late September, the Coastal Inspiration's 7:45pm arrival at Duke Point is in darkness. Here she is, seen from Nanaimo's harbourfront. ...and playing with my flash, to get a dark effect

Yeah, everyone has seen C'Inspiration near berth 3 at Tsawwassen. But I really like the lighting on this dreary day. - September 19, 2014 - my trip home from a rocky mountains road trip. Our vacation trip had Coastal bookends: we started 2 weeks earlier on Coastal Renaissance.

Here's my video of Coastals Inspiration & Renaissance passing by my location on Gabriola Island. - October 11, 2014.
The video of them passing on their outbound journeys to the mainland is quite nice to watch (in my opinion).

ps: I had posted this video earlier today, but I later discovered that the full video hadn't been uploaded to YouTube. It's corrected now.

Coastal Inspiration at berth 3, Tsawwassen Terminal, loading for Duke Point, Nanaimo - 14 October 2014. In the distance you can make out the Spirit of Vancouver Island on its approach to Tsawwassen. While I waited to board the SoVI, I was experimenting with my new Zeiss Touit 12 mm ultra-wide F2.8 prime lens, which was used in this photo. So far I am liking the results, although in this photo, shot through a window, there are some nasty reflection issues which the lens couldn't help with. A polarizing filter (not used) can help to reduce or eliminate reflections when shooting through glass... In Georgia Strait underway from Tsawwassen for Duke Point

C'Inspiration at Berth-5 in Tsawwassen. - working the Duke Point route, this is at 7:45am on February 9, 2015. There was no obvious reason why she used berth-5 for that moment. Berth-3 was operating later in the day, and there were no other ferries loading/unloading at Tsawwassen at that morning time.

Here's a video that I shot on the C'Inspiration's 5:15am trip to Tsawwassen, on February 9, 2015.
- I shot it from the upper vehicle deck, and then from the promenade deck.
- the video starts around 6:30am, when we are off of YVR. it includes a nice glow on the muddy water, and also includes us going into/through a fog bank
- as we near Tsawwassen, you'll see that I'm on port side, anticipating an arrival to berth-3. When it becomes apparent that we're arriving at berth-5 instead, I quickly change sides to starboard.
- the last part of the video is shot from the berth-5 lounge at Tsawwassen, showing the ship departing on her 7:45am sailing to Duke. A rare look at a ship leaving berth-5 and then making the turn to head up the strait.

Looked like the CI was sent to Tsawwassen today (didn't see it arrive though, may not have been today) post refit. Nothing of substantial interest to note, however, she didn't get a blue stripe - but did get a terrible white patch job everywhere else. Looks pretty terrible from up close actually.

That is so strange. The CI is overdue and should be at Tsawwassen any day now.
