Would this be because BCF is expecting heavy weather in the Hecate? It very well could be. How else would you explain a seemingly strange move by BCFS? Too bad for those folks shelling out the full summer fare for the Inside Passage Day Cruise - they get to ride the NoRad with a much reduced level of service/amenities when compared with the NorEx. We all had the same last Spring on the Extravaganza, and honestly, after having boarded the ship, I remembered just how much of the hype about how horrible the 'Adventure is, is just the social group here badtalking her. She really isn't a horrible ship.

The Adventure is passing between Jedediah Island and Texada island at 19.6 knots heading southbound. Her track leads me to guess that she's bound either for Horseshoe Bay or Deas, more likely Deas. I've never heard of the Adventure pulling up at HSB.
She's now reached the sandheads, dredging her way up the mouth of the river. ETA at Deas, an hour or less. I'll probably drop by tomorrow for pictures... we can see how the summer season treated her!

And, the trackers were right again! Nothing spectacular because I forgot the tripod, but here's the NorAd at Deas tonight:

So the NorAd is barely back in service and already there is ... Please be advised that the Northern Adventure is currently operating 3 hours behind schedule due to an operational delay. The revised arrival into Bella Bella is 3:00 am March 17, 2013. Source BCFS Service Notice: www.bcferries.com/bcfservicenotice?id=781674

BCFS has again switched around the NorEx & NorAd for the tail end of the North Coast summer service, just as was done a year ago. Tonight the NorEx is doing the route 10 'milk run', while the NorAd is just completing a north bound Inside Passage 'Day Cruise'. The summer 'Day Cruise' service ends on Monday, September 30th.

How long will she be at the drydock for??? Preferably along side the drydock not actually in the drydock!

Why is she so high in the front?

Why is she so high in the front? A couple possible reasons. When a ship enters a drydock, it is generally desired to have the aft end touch down on the keel blocks first, as this aids in locating the rest of the keel squarely on the blocks, and concentrates stresses where the construction is the strongest. Also, in refit generally ballast and fuel are moved around a lot so that tanks can be cleaned, inspected and repaired as necessary, so in this case the forward ballast and/or fuel tanks may be empty. Tanks must be inspected and pressure tested by Transport Canada and/or the classification society on a regular basis as part of the continuous hull survey.

The Northern Adventure set sail for Deas this afternoon, after she was placed back into the water last night to make way for Queen of Nanaimo. Here she was at about 10:15 this morning as seen from the Lonsdale Quay, with engines running and Navigation lights on. I went to the beach at Lantzville BC this evening, looking for Cadillacs. I found NorAd, sailing from Deas Dock to Port Hardy, where she will begin northern service starting Saturday evening. My viewing was at dusk and from a distance, hence the basic-quality of photos. But first, here's a way to make the ship look good, thanks to distance, darkness, and a bit of fog: - even with all this distortion, she is still unmistakably NorAd. In front of the Sechelt quarry area Probably my best quality shot of the evening Showing her aft deck lights Leaving my view, with the Winchelsea Islands. ----------------
