I thought it always had a blue line? Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you mean. Anyone got photos? The blue line now goes all the way around, it used to stop at the upper car deck where the cars go but now the line has another blue line that is between the car deck openings on both ends but it is not the same height as the rest of the blue line
Now I understand. That's strange, I wonder if there's some reason they need that section blue, or if it's just a simple design update. I agree it's a little weird having it at a different height than the original blue line.

I hope this isn't too recent for this thread, but this is pre-2003 Queen of New Westminster @ Duke Point. Photo by me. The New West made it work with the expo scheme. I think it's a bit odd they added it out of no where as it isn't really standard anywhere else with the fleet, but it's a minute change. If they moved the hull's stripe down it would be more fluid but that (most likely) won't happen...

When does the New West usually come back into regular service on route 1? Still fairly new to ferry fandom so forgive me if this is obvious to most users on here.

That's right, I looked up the schedule and last I saw the Queen of New Westminster is a 4th ship starting on December 22nd.

On December 22 the Queen of New Westminster started the day on Route 1, running about 75 minutes late due to terminal delays from snow/ice. Then at about 1pm, while the vessel was sailing to Swartz Bay from Tsawwassen, it was redirected to sail Route 30 for the afternoon shift. The Queen of Alberni was broken down, I believe due to frozen pipes bursting, on its first day back from refit.
Anyways, I was on the "2pm" sailing of the New West to Tsawwassen (leaving at 325pm) and was actually headed to Nanaimo trying to avoid the highway - I walked on. I had been totally prepared to sit in Tsawwassen for a few hours and brought some work with me. As luck would have it, I just stayed on the New West and actually ended up beating a family member that was driving the same day at roughly the same time. The L route was about four hours from when I walked on to walked off.

Queen of New Westminster took inbound Spirit routing and used Spirit routing at Swartz Bay.

That new blue line should be repainted better for the whole line to be at the same height

That new blue line should be repainted better for the whole line to be at the same height I agree. Sometimes it seems as if BCFS just randomly paints their vessels.

While I do totally agree that the blue tips at either end are throwing off the New West's lines, but I'd say it was done more as a practicality in this case. We've seen this done on the Spirits in recent years and even some of the C-Class when they came out of MLU. The blue stripe serves well for hiding any rust streaks from the deck edge of the upper car deck. When it was white, you'd see every dribble of dirty water or rust sitting there. Now, not so much

Why did BC Ferries put more air intakes at bottom of her funnel? Did this happen during her lifting rebuilding?

Did this happen during her lifting rebuilding? If you compare photos of her from before and after her lifting, you'll have your answer.

Is the new west still sounding only two horns? I figured they would have fixed that in the refit.
