Now for a Ferry Whistle Vs. Ferry Whistle Comparison. The Queen of Cowichan's Whistle goes up against the Coastal Renaissance. I like both but if I had to pick one it would be CR. Kyle

Queen of Cowichan, seen from beach near berth-1 at Departure Bay. Almost ready to leave, at 2:56pm ================= And a 7x sped-up video of the Cowichan during 2 appearances at Departure Bay, today During the video, you can see seagulls trying to crack open shells by rising up and then droppig the shells onto the beach. Quite fun to watch these clever creatures using gravity to open-up shells.

I was at Sugarloaf Mountain this evening, practicing doing some long-form video where I kept as wide an angle of view as possible. ie. no zooming in, and only a couple of angle changes.
- Here is the part where the Queen of Cowichan arrived. Video is sped-up 15x

Two images of Queen of Cowichan, from Sunday evening, March 24, 2013. - seen from one of my favourite Nanaimo ferry-photo locations: Sugarloaf Mountain. The evening scene: A closer look, as the ship is in-port ready for her 7:00pm sailing (she's 30 minutes late that night....) For any ferry fan visiting Nanaimo with an hour or two available for some relaxed ship & bay watching, this location is highly recommended by me and others. Slow down, and enjoy the scenery. If you're touring "hyper sail-pass style," don't bother. This place requires patience and the ability to enjoy being still. For those who can take the time to experience this place, it's very rewarding.

In honour of a well known member from the forum with a name they used to use- a photo of the Queen of Chowican departing Departure Bay for Horseshoe Bay taken just this evening. She's looking a little sad these days. Queen of Cowichan by Deck-dog SSI, on Flickr
