I wanted to press the 'Don't Like' button, but they don't have one of those; too bad. It's not that I don't like your post, either, Mr. Horn. But I do not like people or organizations (no matter how 'worthy' their cause) that use photos of mine or yours (or anyone else's for that matter) without getting permission & without showing credit. Here's Gordon Wilson's group reply to my photo question, on their Facebook page. That was quite a disrespectful reply from an organization that appears to be led by a prominent ex-politician in Mr. Wilson.

One thing that's very interesting to note is that when you do the google images search it comes up not on Picasa like I would be expecting it but rather on BCFs's website on their "vessels charters" page. Flugel, did you give them the authorization at all or is that another stolen photo? BC Ferries got my permission to use that photo for their use, after they had took it without asking ,and then compensated me by giving me 2 BCF gift-certificates after I complained. - that was an episode when many of our members' photos were stolen for use by BC Ferries for their vacation centre wall. They really messed up with not asking for permission, and were persuaded to apologize because of so many complaints all at once by us members who were affected.

Seeing this response I am immediately leaving this group in protest! Quitting that group is not the way to go. Their goal is a good & important one. I (& I think most of you) support that goal. We do not, however, think that using photos without permission or credit is acceptable no matter what your organization's cause happens to be. If this group asked me for permission to use some of my photos I would say yes, providing that they credit me.

Thanks guys, for your support on the issue of that other group's disrespect of other people's work. We've all been there, at one time or another. (Hey, Mirrlees even had a photo make it onto the program for a ship's decommissioning ceremony).

Did anyone think of responding to Gordon Wilson with the suggestion that he research what the potential financial penalties are for proven cases of copyright violation? I agree that is a pretty flippant retort from someone who is heading an organization that includes the word 'fairness' in its name. It appears that for this group, all is fair in love, war and expropriation of personal photography.

From an April 2013 Ferry Advisory Committee meeting.
Obviously we didn't hear anything "by the end of June 2013" so this is still just a rumour. - But the Quadra Queen II is supposed to be re-certified as "Near Coastal" in 2014....

So I'm looking at this photo now, and I'm wondering about the golden colour to the passenger cabin windows. I'm thinking: hmmm, I don't remember the warm rays of a rising sun, reflecting off those windows. Then I finally realize that what I'm seeing is the multitude of yellow coloured chairs in the NIP's passenger cabin. - Not a window reflection at all.

:)it is 'mind-blowing' to think how many nautical miles have gone under the twin hulls of this unlikely catamirziation project since it was first envisioned by John Case in carly days of my nautical journey- later to shift over to town planning work! back then I would never have guessed that this humble little Island Princess was to engage on this ulikely voyage! :)mrdot.

My video of the North Island Princess arriving at Saltery Bay terminal. - her first sailing of Route 18A, at 8:05am on January 12, 2014. Shot from many corners and spots of the Island Sky's sundeck. - I think I circumnavigated the sundeck, filming this video. ps: the short-gaps in the video sequence are from when I quickly took some still shots.

I never noticed that before what is with her name on side it dosent look like it's positioned right, lol! It's because a while back, BCF painted the black part up a little higher on the hull than it used to be. They didn't reposition the name, though, so now it looks all messed-up.

4 photos of the same ship, but showing it with differing backgrounds, and from differing angles. - North Island Princess at Saltery Bay's berth #1. - 8:15am on January 12, 2014 ================= With the rare opportunity of being on a taller ferry that is berthed beside the NIP, you can look down upon her decks. - in this photo, specifically on the rescue boat area. - the seemingly huge forward end of the car deck, with the volleyball net Pano showing both berths And a pano showing the government float and the log dumping area in the bay
