Quinsam at Nanaimo harbour terminal, on a cool January 2012 evening. - I'm at Cameron Island, where the CPR terminal once was. The flashing red lights are activated, signaling her immanent departure. - this system was mandated by the Nathan Nemetz inquiry following the Queen of New Westminster passenger-deaths incident in Aug.1992.

On January 29, 2012 I traveled on the Quinsam for a work-related trip. Here's what I saw on a quiet Sunday morning: Q arriving at Nanaimo at 8:00am On board, in one of the side-lounges: In the Arkellian style of lounge photography (except that Scott would have made his shot straight, not crooked like mine) - footprints are my own style..... In the Flugel style of car-deck photography: - leaving Nanaimo - I'd like to thank the Gabriola year-round frequent commuters for paying for most of today's near-empty trip. (imagine if the fare method was to meet a revenue target for each specific trip? Set total revenue divided by # of people/cars, equals each individual fare price. I'd be paying big for my trip today........ouch)

Quinsam in the early morning on May 5, 2012. - I'm at Jack Point park, watching Quinsam sail back & forth in the dawn, as I await the arrival of the cruise ship Norwegian Pearl. 5:50am, completing her first run of the day. Sleepy Nanaimo morning, except for those in the waterfront shops busy preparing for the tourist-day business that the cruise-ship will bring. 6:15am, on her way back to Gabriola in the morning light Heading back to Nanaimo at 6:45am. - Queen of Cowichan is shown, on her 6:30am sailing to Horseshoe Bay. Heading back to Gabriola at 7:20am, and holding up the Norwegian Pearl cruise ship and the arriving Queen of Alberni.

Heading back to Gabriola at 7:20am, and holding up the Norwegian Pearl cruise ship and the arriving Queen of Alberni. This one's great. It would make a good sig or flagship.

Quinsam and Sapphire Princess. - at Nanaimo on September 30, 2012. VIDEO: www.facebook.com/v/10151147779343647- This is Quinsam leaving on her 7:00am sailing. On Sunday's this sailing follows a 1-hour early morning layover in Nanaimo. ie. instead of simply starting Sunday service one hour later (because of low demand), they do the first run at 5:25am from Gabriola to Nanaimo, and then lay-over for an hour at Nanaimo, before resuming with the 7:00am, thereby missing 1 round-trip.
