Are you going to do a walkthrough video of the MV Nimpkish? That would be a pretty quick video. Was there some part of the mighty Nimpkish that wasn't captured by the photos?

It's the kind of feeling you get from riding a workhorse vessel like the Frances Barkley. As long as you know what you're getting into and plan ahead you'll have an enjoyable trip. Perhaps this isn't the last time that the Nimpkish will be mentioned in the same sentence as the Frances Barkley.

I'm concerned that LRMS still haven't got the ex- Tenaka into operation.

I'm concerned that LRMS still haven't got the ex- Tenaka into operation. Just based on a 2017 news story where the possibility of purchasing another car-ferry "soon to be made surplus" was mentioned. I'm also concerned with the lack of any progress with the Tenaka.

WOW! Can anyone remember seeing/experiencing this degree of 'icing' on Any B.C. Ferry in Winters gone by? I can remember gale force winds and heavy snow all over the ship while I was sailing on the Queen of Prince Rupert, but never ice. Severe ice build-up on any size sea-going vessel can lead to calamitous results. No climate change eh?

That's wild! That would have been quite the experience - Nimpkish in the freezer. There's a photo that would certainly qualify for the March/April flagship.

With Northern Sea Wolf almost ready to start service, the Nimpkish is presumably nearing the end of her BCF career.

Quite often, a 'new' ship needs some adjustments after initial service, and I could see the NSW being in for some work after the tourist season. Maybe they'll keep the Nimpkish until they're certain they've got any bugs taken care of.

Schedules show both Nimpkish and Northern Sea Wolf in service, last half of September, with Nimpkish taking over the Bella Coola-Bella Bella connector for the rest of the fall and into winter. The Queen of Potable Water isn't ready to retire just yet.

The reservation system is usually a pretty reliable source for vessel placement information, but do we have any sure clarity on this?

That same schedule shows the Northern Adventure in service (rather than the Northern Expedition) this coming fall & winter. I am inclined to doubt the accuracy of that schedule for a number of reasons.

Would it not be about time for her to undergo a more extensive quarter-life refit? Maybe that is why Northern Adventure is listed as the Northern vessel for Fall 2019/Winter 2020 rather than the Northern Expedition.

Yes, but my understanding is that the NorEx is: - cheaper to operate than the NorAd - easier to load/unload
- a far better sea boat meaning fewer cancelled sailings, better able to keep the schedule & fewer sea-sick passengers
We'll see what actually happens ...

It was a bit of a surprise to see her in Blubber Bay this morning; I did a double-take.

I wonder if she's crossed under the Rainbow Bridge, in terms of her career at BC Ferries.

Coincidentally I found this 1975 photo of the Nimpkish earlier tonight. David Davies photo, UNBC Archives

On December 1st, the Nimpkish paid a visit to Horseshoe Bay on it's northbound run, presumably to load on crew vehicles. I'm a bit surprised a vessel that small can even load at Horseshoe Bay... I'll bet her bow dropped when the ramp came down.
