There's no Skidegate Inlet, Flug! That's actually a through-passage. If you kept on going, you'd meet open ocean.

The time has come to split-up the K-sisters. This will be done gradually, as I find time.
Kwuna goes first, because I know there are no individual multi-K posts for me to have to break-apart. Just a nice easy "move post" command. ;D

Seeing as how Monsieur Fluge has gone to the trouble to break up the K class into respective threads, I thought that I would add some of my Kwuna pics, ones that have appeared previously on other threads on this forum. All of the photos shown here are hosted on my Flickr site. Larger versions of each photo can be seen by clicking on the photo. @ Skidegate, Haida Gwaii - 15 August 1987 @ Alliford Bay Terminal, Haida Gwaii - July 1998 En route for Alliford Bay, across Skidegate Channel - 1 July 2003 Night shot with Kwuna about to depart Skidegate - 15 March 2011 Map of Kwuna's route across Skidegate Channel also showing recommended photo locations. Please ignore the reference to the QPR photo locations. They would, however, be goods spots to photograph the NorAd or NorEx. All photos © JST

To complement Wet Coast Kid's fine Kwuna shots, here's a couple of somewhat fuzzier shots of her almost thirty years ago. (at Alliford Bay?) I imagine those logging scars on the far shore have filled in by now. Neil's photo is at Skidegate Landing. - Here's how the logging scars have filled in by 2010

Concluding my Northern Ferry Tours will be the Northern Expedition by or on Christmas Day.

The menu for Kwuna's refit. - I'm not sure if it's a factual error in the story, but it says that the refit is at Allied, not Point Hope. Excerpt from Queen Charlotte Observer news page. from here: QCO

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to get photographs of this rare occurrence, Mike! My pleasure. For the next few days, Kwuna will be the star of the forum, getting more posting attention in a week than she normally gets in a year.

I am disappointed with the Kwuna's ETA in Vancouver tomorrow. She is proceeding down the Strait of Georgia at a whopping 6.8 knots, making her arrival time at Allied around 4:30 AM, as updated on Siitech late this afternoon.
I am hoping that if it keeps getting pushed back, I can get some photos from Stanley Park before my class tomorrow...

I doubt it would be that early. From what I remember, the workers at Allied generally don't ever start work until at least 7:00am. Just looking at Siitech they've basically stopped and are sitting in between Texada and Lasqueti Islands.

3 close-ups of Kwuna as seen in Seymour Narrows, from the log-sort property area. - morning of September 18, 2013. One of the interesting features of this ship is how the inclined-mast gives different looks and views from different angles. ...and the ramps from different angles give interesting views, too. A couple of nice close-ups in the Narrows turn: - the light marker on land is on Maud Island, not Quadra. Maud Island is almost attached to Quadra (likely it is attached at low-tide), and Maud was the base for the Ripple Rock explosion tunnels. ...when you view these photos, it's easy to forget that she's under tow.

Do you know when she should be at Allied Shipyard? I did not see her at Allied Shipyard today when I cross the Iron workers bridge.
