Bowen Queen was the object of my photographic attention on Boxing-day morning. - 12/26/2013 in the early morning hours at the Nanaimo waterfront. Great photos Mr Horn!

A video of mine featuring Bowen Queen on the Gabriola route.
This is a sped-up video covering 3 hours in just a couple of minutes.
- you can see that I was playing with a few different colour options on my camera, while filming.
I will post a slower version of the good-stuff, later.

And here is that longer-form version of my favourite scenes from my Boxing Day morning visit with Bowen Queen.
I really enjoy many of these scenes; I think I've captured some good stuff.
The ethereal music that I've used in this video evokes images of the ferry dancing upon the water (while visions of sugar-plums are dancing in your heads)

Great shot. We enjoyed our trip aboard her last summer from Long Harbour to Tsawwassen, especially when we were slowly outrun by one of the Coastals! Kinda cool.

Here is my video of Bowen Queen on the Gabriola route. Shot over 3 hours on February 8, 2014 and I'm very happy with the low-light portions of this.
This is her last evening of work on the Gabriola route, for this refit season.

Does anybody know when the Bowen Queen is going to leave Fulford Harbor?

Does anybody know when the Bowen Queen is going to leave Fulford Harbor? Probably not until January, when it relieves the Queen of Capilano, so she can go for her MLU.

Sounds like they're loading seven lanes on the Bowen Queen these days, trapping some people in their cars. See thread 'ferry loading and the crew'. Overall, BC Ferries seems to be getting good marks for how they're handling the Bowen Island situation with the 'Capilano out. bowen-island-bc.com/forum/read.php?1,1302154

BC Ferries could have brought in the Cumberland or the I Sky to the Bowen Island run and sent the BQ to Jervis Inlet, or the SGI's. I am fairly sure that a vessel with higher vehicle capacity is needed more (at this time of year) on the Bowen run than the other runs mentioned. On the other hand, its nice to see the BQ back home where she first started 50 years ago. The fixed link: bowen-island-bc.com/forum/read.php?1,1302154

Another Bowen Queen update, from today: We start from one of Sewell's Docks - the vessel is about to depart for its 1425 sailing to Bowen Island: -She has been running full or almost full loads on route 8. When I was aboard on the first day (Jan 5), she had 62 vehicles aboard with room for about 5 more. With the Queen of Coquitlam arriving in Berth 2 First photo, from the public float. This was at the end of the midday siesta. Pretty soon there will be no siesta on Wed-Fri, as midday sailings are scheduled: Cheers!

Don't know anything about the camera, but the shot makes me feel like I'm standing on the promenade deck of the Queen of Surrey, watching the Bowen' depart. Particularly like the wash. Nice result!

The RADs certainly make some interesting wake. Based on some other photos, I'm gonna say Scott was on a Nanaimo vessel. The wide-angle lens make it appear as though he's a distance from the BQ, but I'll make an educated guess he was on the Oak Bay or Cowichan in berth 2. I reserve the right to be wrong. edit: Time for a "guess the vantage point" contest?
