My reward for getting up early today, and driving up to Campbell River for dawn. - Powell River Queen nearing Campbell River terminal on her 7:05am sailing. - October 5, 2012. An unintentional (but grateful for it) pan. Another lucky pan Mt. Doogie Dowler and the PRQ in beautiful dawn's early light Oh say, can you see the PRQ? (....and the port light's red glare, sea gulls fly through the air, gave proof at the dock that our ferry was there)

PRQ in Discovery Passage, with a tow passing by. - The tug is the Snohomish (Dunlap Towing) and the barge is the Naknek Trader which is owned by Northland Services. It's going from Seattle to Alaska.

A few more PRQ photos from October 5, 2012: dawn, at Campbell River. - loading a tanker truck - heading into Discovery Passage With Mt. Doogie Dowler --------------------- In the afternoon: It appears as if the truck is on the land behind her The ship and the terminal, at Quathiaski Cove, Quadra Island Although some may find various angles of this ship to be ugly, I find that the differing angles are interesting, providing some distinct looks not found on other BCF ships.

I wish the PRQ was on a longer run. She is a neat ship but u never get enough time on her cause her run is so short. Seem odd upgrading her. How many people actually use the lounges? lol! Maybe mostly foot passengers.

Sped-up video of PRQ at Campbell River, this morning.
- I had fun doing this one, showing 2 different video speeds.
The ferry was sure hurting today, fighting strong tides in Discovery Passage, and with a bad engine (scheduled for a 1-month repair job, starting next week).

I Just got off the PRQ about 1/2 hour ago or so and I have a Question. Why does they blow the ship's horn while the vessle is still loading rather then just as the ship is getting underway?

That whistle indicates ticket sales cutoff and final call for boarding. If the whistle blast was a short toot, then that's an indication that sailing is forthcoming and it's time to cast off. WSF used to sound this blast from the whistle at their docks before the days of walkie talkies. On my night runs aboard the Steel-Electrics on the Columbia Beach run, the bell on the car deck would be rung instead of the whistle as not to wake up the neighbors (unless there was fog). On day crossings, some captains would pull the cord very slightly as not to startle the passengers directly below on the Saloon Deck. A light toot, to say the least. That was in the 1970s and early 1980s. Sometimes, WSF captains would do this today as felt on my eardrums. Never hold a child near the railings on a ferry!

Powell River Queen in the mists of Discovery Passage. - seen from Tyee Spit on July 17, 2013. - on her previous trip, the misty effect was amazing, as only her superstructure was visible from our location (we had just arrived then, and I didn't have my camera ready).

Video compilation of the Pee-Are-Cue, seen by me during a few days in July 2013.
- location and dates are in the video subtitles.
- on shore footage - on-board footage showing a trip across Discovery Passage. - other novelty shots.
The first half of the video is not up to my usual high-standard for level-horizon quality (haha, self sarcasm) because I didn't use a tripod. Sorry for the visual slope.

In regards to the PRQ is a "Bully". Take a look at this picture, We have just departed Our Dock at CR and this idiot in the Small Vessle cut right in front of us. No my friends the PRQ is not a "Bully" Its just Stupid boaters who do not have any respect, They think they can just cut in front when they like. I watched this guy myself. 11:30 am sailing from Campbell River on July 31, 2013. The Second picture you will notice that the PRQ is returning to Q-Cove Empty. That's right there is no passengers or vehicles onboard. The Vessle had to make a emergency trip back to Q-Cove to Pick up a Ambulance on a Code 3, Call. The Third picture you will see the ship departing with the Ambulance. This was on Aug 2, 2013, and I was on the 2pm Sailing from Q-Cove, departing 26, minutes late. Please forgive That I got part of the Dock in the picture, I was trying to take a video at the same time.

A couple of differents sets of views of PRQ arriving at Quathiaski Cove on Quadra Island. First, from a roadside weed-patch on Pidcock Rd. - July 23, 2013 - I like this view from this location. ------------------ Secondly, from the Government wharf at Q-Cove (accessed from behind the passenger waiting building). - July 26, 2013 With Victoria Peak in the background (3rd highest peak on Vancouver Island) I had a lighting / colour problem with this photo, with the ship's white superstructure blending in with the sky & clouds - It makes me appreciate good morning & evening lighting that much more (this photo was from mid-day, hence the problem)
