While I was at Swartz Bay terminal on Oct.21, 2013, waiting for my Skeena Queen sailing to SSI, I saw the Queen of Cumberland approaching. When I realized that she was heading into berth #1, I sprang into action, with a few objectives in mind: 1) Get some photos of the Q'Cumber in Berth #1 2) Don't be late for my Skeena sailing (I had half an hour, so I was ok) 3) Don't attract the attention of the Swartz Bay Secret Police. So I quickly set about taking photos from various passengers-allowed locations, never staying in one spot long enough to attract attention. I was able to get plenty of photos of the ship while she was obviously in berth #1 (the #1 signs were good proof, for future doubters who will say that Cumberland never uses berth #1). I was also able to shoot some video, including the boarding announcement for the foot passengers. All objectives were met. Here are the results: ----------------- ------------------------------------------ ...and the video:

It's so wierd for a moment to see the superstructure of the Cumberland from her car deck after being on the Island Sky and seeing the difference.

The Whistle of the Cumberland entering Active Pass. She in dire need of a Tune Up to say the least. Hopefully it'll be fixed next time I record it.

The 'Cumberland nearing Sturdies Bay after her regular strait crossing from Tsawwassen, 10-05-14.
I posting this photo to show coast mountains is different view for Cumberland.
Gosh, I'm just full of mischief tonight. Checking the six pages of this thread, I noticed that there are only a couple of 'Cumberland photos that don't show a Gulf Island, Swartz Bay, or a shipyard scene. This vessel has been a picture of consistency in terms of routing since her launch.

Has she ever regularly crossed the strait from Tsawwassen? I don't remember her ever doing that trip... is she doing it during the fall schedule? - John H

Has she ever regularly crossed the strait from Tsawwassen? I don't remember her ever doing that trip... is she doing it during the fall schedule? There should be a referendum on to decide if Cumberland should do more strait crossings to Tsawwassen.

A few days ago I was at Swartz Bay, actually on the CC around 1040am. The Cumberland pulled out of her berth about half loaded, spun, docked again and loaded a few more cars. Is this normal? Seems really inefficient.

if that is around 10am I would of been boarding her to go to Mayne Island! Her platforms were down tonight when she arrived around 8:30pm at Village Bay! She is running late!

I sailed on the Cumberland today too! Most definitely running late this evening...but for a long weekend, it could have been much worse (and I've experienced much, much, worse over the years).
