I've merged the Princess Jacqueline thread into this existing QofE thread, and renamed it for photos & discussion. Thanks to those who suggested that the focus be on her long-lived name, not the failed-attempt name. Great move, Mr. Musical Moderator! The tug ALAN G with the QOE in tow were spotted on MT at the time of this posting in an area between our Washington beach communities of Westport and Long Beach at a distance of some 50 miles off shore. I think I should go back to all my postings and change everything (back) to QUEEN OF ESQUIMALT from PJ.

:)thank-you for restoration of Q. of Esquimalt, now she can rest in peace, and it looks like I might see the Cannucks win a cup in my lifetime! yes it was some time back,in the foggy past, when I was fortunate enough to be spare board crew on the re-positioning voyage of the Esquimalt back to Swartz Bay, after she became the first stretched ferry! :)mrdot.

I should point out the Queen of Esquimalt has actually had Four names over her career! Queen of Esquimalt Colonial Heavy 798 Colonial One Princess Jacqueline And I suspect that she is the only ship in the fleet that has had a Colonial Viper on her cargo deck.

:)the first slide that EGfleet has posted was just after she was stretched and before she was made uniform to rest of the stretched fleet, and she wore that rediculous centennial logo, I think the WSFerries had another short lived logo for the Seattle Worlds Fair, that also didn't look very shipshape! We certainly have had alot of unfortunate gov't add ons over the years! I don't think any supergraphics look good on any of our ships, not the latest 2010 out of date shrink wraps either! But that being said, at least the evergreen fleet has kept their colours, as have Alaska State. :)mrdot.

As of the time of this posting, the tug ALAN G and the QUEEN OF ESQUIMALT have passed Port Orford, Oregon. The tow has been averaging around a little more than six knots. Their plot signal on MT has been going in and out.

Good Monday morning! The tow is now off Monterey Bay. For those who love rather funny ship names, here's one: STEALTH CHICKEN That's a sailing vessel. I just wonder how many eggs that one lay? ;D

:'(well I sure hope the Canucks have a better result than my old Esquimalt, which looks about to join the sorry looking steel electrics down Mexico way! maybe they will come back in their next life as mexican RCA victor sets! and all the displaced workers in the pacific northwest can rejoice in their fast food / service industry style jobs! :'(mrdot.

I don't know about anyone else but Im just blown away by the fact we can follow our dear lady as she sails south, by siitech and even on video cameras. Thank you to all the tech savy types that are keeping us up to speed. As an aside, its sad that the Queen going south looks in better shape paint wise then our dear girl who travels between Little River and Powell River.

This here thread has been the forum's "most viewed thread" for most of the days in the last week or so. Thanks everyone, for making this a great thread to follow this old ship. (and thanks to Ferry Nut for getting those webcam shots from Avalon !) Very lucky that we had a pair of good functioning webcams to use there this morning. As an encore, here is a greater collection of captures from Avalon: The QUEEN OF ESQUIMALT is behind that red flag at the north edge of this photo. Do you remember us using this cam to capture the FSG ferries passing this area on their delivery voyages? By the way, this is the second time an FSG "wave breaker" is making its way through this area. It was used on one of the Coastal Class ferries on the delivery voyage from Germany. This one is welded at the ESQUIMALT's bow. It would be interesting to know which Coastal Class ferry this is off of. Wider angle of the harbor. Same.

:'(well I don't know which is more meloncholic, todays canuck result, or the Esquimalt going to it's mexican reward, to come back as rebar, and or razor blades! never mind our premier has seen the light, and is going to bat for domestic shipbuilders, or is this only wishful thinking? ::)mrdot.

I think I'm going to make this the final edition of my position reports of the towing of the MV QUEEN OF ESQUIMALT to Ensenada from Port Alberni. The tow is off the Mexican coast at this time. I'll now let the ALAN G and QUEEN OF ESQUIMALT be by themselves for the rest of the journey.

Photo, courtesy of Mr. Steve Frailey of Pacific Tugboat Service. Thanks ! I presume that this is somewhere in the Alberni inlet on day-1. Mr. Frailey will be sending me more photos, as they are made available to him.

I would like to thank FerryNut for all his hard work on keeping an eye on our Queen as she retires to Mexico. Not being a tech person I am always impressed by those that can do these things then share them with those of us poor souls who would have missed it other wise. Thank you once again.
