Thank you, Salt Chucker. It's also intersting to note that she's been used in a Suzuki television ad recently seen at a dock looking quite similar to Porteau Cove, though I've yet to see the ad again. Keep your eyes peeled.

Thank you for the photos, Salt Chucker! It's very much appreciated. Quite the different paintjob it has now.

So it actually is the Savoie, then?
I was wondering if they might have gotten a hold of one of her sisters, or maybe there was one we haldn't heard of.
At least it looks like she will still be doing honest work, serving the people of the coast.

Yes, it is the same ship! What do you think? Maybe it's really the Brentwood Bay - the missing sister ship of the Mill Bay . Too bad I don't have a photo of the workers holding a paint brush painting the ship. Yeah, the before and after really clear that up... I was just confused by the name. But now we have yet another phantom ship... I know the ferry that ran before the Mill Bay was called Brentwood. No notion of what she looked like, but now we have the Brentwood Bay,... I wonder? If it was a sister ship, I think it would at least look a lot more like the Mill Bay, and how come she never got to be a queen in her own name.

See this older thread for some discussion re the ship Brentwood: ferriesbc.proboards20.com/index.cgi?board=qa&action=display&thread=1157317843This short thread has been Cascade-sanitized, meaning that some replies have been deleted by the poster in his act of kindness. However I remember that one of the Cascade replies was the typical " Oh, I see that you've found out something about this ship.....do you know the rest of the story?" or something annoying like that. That's what inspired my ending post of calling him "The Riddler".....as he liked to hint but not elaborate.

Whoa - the AJ looks like some sort of Christmas-themed boat with that new paint job... too much red & green

If you look at the new paint job, it really hasn't changed that much. The lower and upper red lines are exactly the same, the blue line is gone and green is filled in around the lower red line! And I just noticed that on the old paint job, after she was retired the blue line was erased except for around the name where the blue is what outlines the letters. Thank you very much for the address and photos salt chucker, I'll have to hunt her down!

Has anyone noticed on NBC that they have made a commercial featuring Mr. Savoie? It is featured on a Suzuki ad. I will try and upload it soon. I, though subtly, mentioned this in a post of mine a couple weeks ago; fortunately it can be found on more than just NBC. Thanks for the official heads-up.

I've seen a Suzuki car commercial on TV (TLC) tonight a few times, featuring the ex MV Albert J. Savoie. The general idea is two people racing to get to the Ferry through the streets of Vancouver. Eventually they get to the Terminal, which is actually Darrel Bay here in Squamish (former MV Garibadli II home berth). The person driving the Suzuki races down the ramp and on to the Ferry, and the crew members close the bow door. The Ferry was freshly painted in the Expo scheme still, and the bow doors appear to have been made for the commercial for added effect for the situation. They then show the Ferry backing out of the dock, tooting its little horn, as the guy driving the non-Suzuki is stuck waiting in the lineup.

Someone should really try to get some photos of Mr. Savoie. I am going to be going up the Sunshine Coast in March, but I don't really know how much of a chance there is that I will see her. I will try and go to that address, but it would be nice to get a schedule of when and where she departs.

Funny thing is that as of today I have yet to Hear her on the scanner. Last time I heard her was a few years ago as the AJ Savoie.

The old RJ sunk the other day Just kidding ;D They use the ship couple times a week. The ramp on the ferry isn't that great its really hard to get stuff loaded on the ferry.
