Sure they can relift her...but it wouldn't be easy. Supposedly they can lift the Titanic, which weighs 46,000 tonnes and is more than a kilometer down. Maybe, it will be difficult to lift those ships, but it would be nice to see them floating as ferries and cruise ships Quote: "Hey, what's the Titanic doing in Vancouver? She should be in the Atlantic!"

That would be interesting to see her rounding the corner into Departure Bay...

lol, Grade 8....... In Grade 8, I thought it was extremely hard, and was nervous about going into Grade 9 with the "Difficulty" increase....Now in Grade 12, I just want to get away from the little kids.

I'm writing a history of Michgan State Ferries, and I have an extensive collection of Vacationland/Jack Dalton/Pere Nouvel/SuzyQ photos. They're not online, as I have to wait until the book gets published, but I'll post some then. Les B., Ferry Historian, Kingston, WA By the way, the drawing that started this post is from a postcard published by C. C. Eby of Castle Rock in St. Ignace Michigan. It was done from an original Michigan State Highway Department photograph of the ship during her builders trials. I think that photo is available by an earlier link in this discussion thread.

In 1988 I was asked to bring some of my Suzy Q photo collection to the BC Ferries Crew's Reunion/Roast/Wake for her that was held April 15 that year at the Gibsons Legion Hall. Since it was difficult to show so many prints and slides to so many people at the same time, I took about 200 of 'em and produced a narrated slide show on her history which was the "keynote" speech of the evening. So many people wanted copies that it was produced to a video (VHS) that I sold at cost ($24 US plus S&H) It's now also been made into a DVD for the same price. Divcoles (Les B.)

"Wow" Nice picture of the Sunshine Coast Queen tied up in North van. She has seen better day's yes, but It sure brought back good memories. I had a wonderful day with her back in the mid 80's with a friend of mine. I think I blabbed on about that awhile back on the queen of Victoria post last July in the wee hour's of the night. Thank you for the photo!! The Sunshine Coast Queen was the "queen" of the fleet back in her day with B.C ferries. She was a big dubble ender and had a good payload.
Thanks again

With regard to an earlier post- nobody ever tried to raise the Titanic- even when first found, it was rusting away to bits, and anyway, was not in one piece. The Sunshine Coast Queen was certainly one of a kind here on the coast. Kind of cool looking, in an ugly duckling sort of way, but a terrible pig on fuel. She displaced the Sechelt Queen on the Langdale run, and the Langdale Queen supplemented her sailings. After retirement, I saw her tied up for a while at Gunderson Slough on the Fraser, looking really sad. Quite the picture of her sinking under tow in the Pacific.

I just recieved my copy of "A Ferry's Wake" just last week. The info, photographs, history, and naration are incredible. He sent it to me for free , and it took about a week to get here. Divcoles made the video when he was asked to make a slideshow with his pictures of it, for the former crew members of the Susy Q back in the 80s. But it's now in DVD form, and I can't believe how much detail is on it. There are even pictures of it sinking in the Pacific, with one end almost completely underwater, as it helplessly slowly drifted away. If it were my video, I would take some screenshots of the video for you guys, but I don't want to offend Divcoles, as I do not have his permission to do so. So that will be up to him as to whether or not any pics of it will be displayed on here. But he has asked me to spread the word of his video, as he has alot of copies of the video he would like to get rid of. Speaking of a video of a ferry that sank, we all should get something together to make something similar for the North.......

I've always taken a liking for the Sunshine Coast Queen... It looks neat.
It reminds me of a double-ended V.
