I remember so well, laying in bed in Westview and hearing "The Haida" thump it's way north to the mill to unload it's rail cars..

Here is a link to a gem of an article on rail barges. - including Haida Transporter Thanks to a fellow named ENR3005 I found the following link on railfan.net, E & N forum. The article, originally appearing in the CRHA periodical "Canadian Rail", is a detailed description of intermodal (truck, barge, and rail)marine operations in the Strait of Georgia circa 1967. I found the article full of details and excellent photos.
