It's been 3 years since I signed up for that small forum with around 20-40 Members. And today It's Grew from that to a regular Forum with Almost 180 Members. Around 30 of them Regulars. Over These Three Years I've Made New Friends, Taken Countless Photos, And Overall Got to discuss the Ferries.
Now that that's done, I'm Changing My Name Again, I thought I'd Recap my Names Throughout the 3 Years. PR Queen Kid 16 PR Ferries Teen 16 PR Coastal Teen 16 PR Northern Teen 16 And Now Without No More Waiting, Matching My Site (The Ship-Rider's Guide) While Keeping the 16, The Name Is...

Here's my interview with the member known as "Ferry Nut Seattle". As usual, the responses to my questions are in bold italics.========================= - Are you living in Seattle, and are you a life-long resident? I've been a lifelong resident of the Seattle area since my birth.- Where do you fit on the age demographic? (a nice way of asking if you're under 30, over 40, over 50, etc). Over 40, but not elaborating! - What keeps you occupied during the week? My office work, naturally! I need paychecks, you know!- What are some of your interests / passions in life, besides ferries? My favorite passions are attending concerts like pipe organ, symphony, some jazz, and listening to various music like the Monkees, Beatles, classical, et al. I also enjoy train travel and flightsimming (MS FSX) as well as riding the real thing.- What else do you enjoy on the Internet? A whole range of subjects, too many to elaborate on.- What's your source of info, how do you do the work, and how much time does it take you, and your motivation in doing the ship drawings? I've been very interested in the architecture of the old ferries since my first ride in the 1960s. The Steel-Electrics are my favorites as well as the VASHON. There are others as well. The Wooden-Electrics were neat with all those various compartments on their Saloon Deck. I hate to see these all gone now. But, my visual and photo memory inspired me to put these into byte form drawings to share with you folks. Takes awhile. I use a paint program to do these. The source for my drawings of the new 144s come from WSF's PDF files. Hope they use my paint scheme below and add the evergreen tree (with a "W") to their stacks. AMH and BCF have logos on their stacks. WSF should dust off their old "Evergreen Fleet" logo and put this on their stacks. - What are some of your favorite current ferries in the world? I say our Steel-Electrics, Supers, Jumbos, QUEEN OF COQUITLAM (great ferry!), and the new ones in New York (hope to ride them soon) as well as at Martha's Vineyard.- What are some of your favorite retired ferries? The STR BERKELEY, MV SANTA ROSA, and the SWSTR EUREKA. Great vintage architecture in these as well as fun to visit. My heart is still torn to bits in the loss of the MV VASHON, my real favorite of them all. I really miss seeing her exposed machinery parts moving and going up to see the neat woodworks. In 1985, I had an opportunity to explore every inch of her as I helped with the restoration work that year. Fun to stay aboard overnight in her brief hostel operation!- What are some of your favorite ferry trip memories? There are just too many. My first rides in New York were memorable back in the late 1990s. It was fun riding aboard the new MV WENATCHEE from Todd Shipyard to Colman Dock after watching the launching of the new MV PUYALLUP from the WENATCHEE's decks!- What's your ultimate, dream ferry trip? (on a current ferry and a current route). A ride aboard a Jumbo Mark II on the Mukilteo run. That would be an incredible sight! But, you know, we are all dreaming of a white Christmas here!! - Do you do ferry photography? I do some.- What are some suggestions to improve or change the local ferries? (the ships, the routes, the schedules, the policies, etc). Definitely more trips to ease the lineups communities have to deal with. More trains to connect them as well. Can't wait to see how crowded the spacious cabins of the CATHY and KITTY will be when Sounder trains finally make stops at Mukilteo!- What do you enjoy about the "Ferries of BC Forum"? How often do you check-in? How did you first locate the forum? All the neat subjects. I check in almost daily (when the lights are on in my home - no more wind storms, please!) as well as lunch time at the office. I first located this forum in the searching of news after the sinking of the MV QUEEN OF THE NORTH. Terrible day for all in the maritime communities. There may be those who may have thought I was a little goofy in the daily tracking of the MV SONIA. My apologies as I should have let others share in this as well. We'll let others take turns in doing this for the arrivals of the new Flensburger Trio. One thing for sure, when something interesting is in sight of FSG's webcams, I can't keep myself from sharing! - What would you change about the forum? NOTHING!- What's are some of your favorite forum topics? Many, including the trials and tribulations of ferry operations, construction, photos being shared.Any other comments? KEEP UP THE GREAT FUN FERRY CHATTING, YOU FUN FERRY FANATICS!!! Here is what I want to see on the new 144s:The stacks ride way too high. I incorporate the structures they ride on by painting them green and give these ferries a better balance of appearance. I also paint the quarters behind the wheelhouses green so the wheelhouses stand out better when looking at these vessels with a tree infested shoreline in the background. Oh, yes, the old "Evergreen Fleet" logos are added to the stacks! ==================== Thanks FNS, for letting us get to know a bit about you. There are no nut-allergies on this forum....

A forum milestone was made today by the 'Coastal Renaissance' - Here we go..! thread.
That topic is now the largest in FoBC history, surpassing the 'Queen of the North Sinks 135 Kilometers SE of PR' thread.
The dedication to this forum by its many contributors is something to be very proud of. Well done, all..!

Well I celebrated 3000 posts today... Welcome to the club. The pay-raise and corporate-jet is pretty nice at first, but then you just get used to it. I wonder what perks are in store for us at 4,000? Curtis and Karl aren't telling, but sometimes their IP-addresses are from Hawaii...... (for the satirically-impaired: don't worry about this one)

And that's added on to all the perks that the G-mods get, but only staff know about these...

Useless little milestone that part of me feels I should mention.... I celebrated 3 official years of being part of this forum, with champagne and cheese. I was very disappointed with how many of you showed up. Unless you we all holding a party for me, but forgot to invite me.

but the day before the whole forum came over to my house and we had a kickass time, didn't we guys? Yeah, we played a game where we tried to increase the height of Michael's signature-pic, pixel by pixel, past the allowed limit, and we ended up at 208. It was a blast. ;D I would have taken pictures, but Michael's home had a new policy where interior pictures are not allowed. ;D

Just noticed now, so I'm one post too late but I am no longer a new member! That big green star sure looks nice compared to that puny little yellow star.

NEWS FLASH.... 'ShipRider 16' Dethroned! (Expect to see a flurry of one line posts...) ....but you need to realise that Powell River had a hydro-disruption last Monday....and Metchosin did not. Also, BC Ferries has been doing some "very stupid things", which gives our current leader ample posting material. So these "forces majeure" contributed to the rankings-switch.

You Can Expect Some Competition. It's hard trying to respond to everything. Also I've Been Kind Of Busy With Homework and Such, You Know Grade 10 Homework Getting to Me Taking Up my Whole Night, So I'm Not Responding to The Forum as Much As Before. A Couple of Times a day put to once or twice a day.

Looks like Ship-Rider 16 has regained his taken up his throne again. There has been a small avalanche of one-lined posts in the past 1/2 hour.
