Hi As most of you may know, this forum will be upgraded to Proboards Version 5 Software! This will likely happen on Wednesday, January 16th. As a result of this, the forum will be unavailable for approximately 1 hour on Wednesday. One major change for all members to be aware of is that logging in will be done via email address instead of username. The first time you log in following the upgrade you will be prompted to upgrade your account to a ProBoards Global account (read more here.) Once our forum is upgraded members will notice improved loading speeds, an easy to use post editor (you won't need to know BBC code), new themes, and much more!

Is just your email and you will be able to go on any forum, and post their? Do I have re-sign up for a Global account and for this one?

If you already have a Global account you do not need to register another one. You will only have to link your WCFF account to your existing ProBoards Global account. This Global account does not register you on every ProBoards forum.

Setting up your Proboards Global Account is easy. I just did it successfully, and I'm an internet dinosaur. You do it here: www.proboards.com/register

We all have to wait until Wednesday to do that linking. I don't know if you do it from the ferry forum log-in page, or from the Proboards global login page. - I'm guessing that it's from the Proboards global login page. Whoever does it first on Wednesday will post about it in this thread, to help the others out.

You will do this after the forum is upgraded. ProBoards forums running the current Version 4.5 software cannot be linked to a global account yet.

I hope it doesn't affect those who log in using their Facebook, as I do. I wouldn't want to lose all my posts, etc.

You do it here: www.proboards.com/registerIf you're an internet dinosaur, then I'm one of those simple celled critters floating around in the Archean muck. Every 'upgrade' in the computer world inevitably has me phoning one of my daughters (God bless the young) for help. The thing I like about this is that I won't have to type in 'hornbyguy' when I sign in. I've always regretted a user name that might have struck some people as a slightly vulgar play on words. Free at last!

1. As a result of this, the forum will be unavailable for approximately 1 hour on Wednesday. 2. Once our forum is upgraded members will notice an easy to use post editor (you won't need to know BBC code) 1. Do you approximately know when? I guess it will be during the wee hours of the night but it could as well not be... 2. Will BBC code still work? Because I don't like these editors where you type text, have to select it and click on a button to make it bold (for example). It makes you look up too much and with the actual BBC you can all do with the keyboard, which is very cool .

I'm not sure exactly when on Wednesday this will happen. I'm hoping early on Wednesday morning but it depends on what ProBoards wants to do. There will still be the option to use BBC code.

I wouldn't want to lose all my posts, etc. You can try to link it with your google/live/aol account into the "social networks" tab of your profile. Or you can ask the question into the thread that Coastal Skier linked in the first post.

There will still be the option to use BBC code. And what about an HTML editor? You can do much much more things with HTML, so I guess this could be another option, as long as you know how to use html.

So is there a set time for when this upgrade happens or does somebody on the Mod Squad have to press the Upgrade Button to start it?
At this time I notice the Top 3 Forums in the Open Beta Contest have been upgraded.

Any word on whether or not this will affect those who register and sign in using their Facebook, or will I have to create a new account?

None of us know precisely at what time the forum will be updated. Currently we're waiting for the offer from Proboards to arrive, and at which time we'll try and provide a time at when it will officially be upgraded.
However, regardless if you happen to see the forum out of service over the next little while, is that it should be getting upgraded. If in doubt, check our Twitter or Facebook pages if you happen to have an account on those sites.
Thank you for your patience. Sorry for the inconvenience. We apologize for the delay. Thank you for sailing with West Coast Ferries.

We are currently number 1 in cue for the upgrade. So when it happens, it happens.

I've looked at another forum that upgraded yesterday. Here's how it will go to register for our forum, once we get our upgrade done. - The registration screen will look like this: www.proboards.com/register/3247169Assuming that you've already created your ProBoards Global Account, then when you type in your email address to the above-linked registration screen, you will get this message ....and that's how it will go for us. Steve: I don't have an answer for the Facebook log in. Sorry. - If it turns out that you need to create a ProBoards Global account, that should be easy to do. Sorry, I know it clutters things up.... Awesome Cheese: - No, I don't know when.

I've been browsing the support forum and it seems that there were some issues with the Forum converter. If nothing has happened by 5PM I'll make a post in Proboards Support to see what the status is. Edit: See this post: support.proboards.com/post/5110250/thread
