I've moved the "post count" posts, to the "questions and suggestions" thread.
So if you are interested in that topic, you'll find it there, and please do your discussing there.

Question for the mods ...
Can this new version of the forum be modified so that when you are on the main page, forums the information in the "last post" column can be bolded/italicized/colored/etc if the post occurred that day.
I believe the post was bolded if it occurred early that day in the previous version of the software ... it was a lot easier to do a "quick browse."

If an extra registration happened then it didn't go smoothly haha. Delete the female side of myself please I'd love to delete that new account, but thanks to Version 5's new graphics that won't display on my work computer, I can't. Sorry, we'll all probably notice a slower reaction to removing spam and doing other housekeeping duties with this new version. Well on days I am feeling sensitive I will use the female log in . Today is a good example of why the new Recent Posts is a bit better than the last 80 Posts in the past. There are far over 80 complaints about the new misgrade so I would have not seen all the posts. EXCEPT, they forgot to repeat the page selector again at the bottom of the page as well as the top. So when you read the first page of Recents, you have to spin back up to the top to turn to the next page. That is a very basic function to be missed going into the Beta stage. If someone is compiling all the complaints back to Proboards they might want to include that. Sooo Flug you are really saying that if someone abuses me with Long Beach and Tofino gloatings I can go to town and post a lot of crap, at least during working hours BC Time .

No one else in the moderator / admin group has said it yet, so I'll do it: Sorry ! We're sorry that we early-upgraded this forum to version-5. We're sorry that we put our trust in ProBoards; a product that isn't meeting our needs and is causing us all some extra work and frustration. We're sorry that we've wasted your time with this. Sorry ! As for Mr. OldWsfFleet guy, I'm sorry that I don't know how to help you. This is not the way to start a new year. I'm sorry to all who are finding this frustrating. I'll be doing less forum moderating and participation, simply because Version-5 doesn't work very well from my at-work computer. Sorry about all this. Theme song for the month

I'll be doing less forum moderating and participation, simply because Version-5 doesn't work very well from my at-work computer. Sorry about all this. Like with every upgrade to anything, there are going to be bugs, glitches and other teething problems. Bear in mind that this new forum software is still in beta so plenty of bugs are going to be found. With that said, I strongly encourage all members to post in the Proboards Version 5 report bugs board and post a link to your bug report in this thread. This way everyone is on the same page with bugs and learning this new software. Mr. Horn: The reason why the forum doesn't display properly on your work computer is likely because your office blocks the domain "4d5.net" which is Proboards graphics server.

So, I am here to say that I need help. I have tried to do the upgrade as instructed to do. Proboards and WCFF will not recognize my original info. As I do not know any other forum member to ask for help, I had to create a new account on WCFF to be able to communicate and relay my problem. Has any other member been locked out from upgrading an existing account? I am all for upgrading accounts, and it makes sense on what they are doing, but my info original info is not being recognized, and it is very frustrating. I have been a member for 5 years and have never had problems. Obviously it is something I am doing or not doing. Would a forum administraitor assist me in upgrading my account? Thank you, old_wsf_fan (old username) You'll need to log-in using your original username. In your case, it's oldwsffan. After entering your password, you should then be able to associate your original account to the new global account format. If you have any questions, please let us know...

As more customization becomes available, we might be able to restore that feature of the previous software. However, at this time, this is unavailable.

After entering your password, you should then be able to associate your original account to the new global account format. If you have any questions, please let us know... I tried that suggestion as you implied through your message via Facebook - as I was experiencing the same issue - but was unable to. The e-mail address I used to register my Facebook account is the same srosenow_98@yahoo.com e-mail address I've had since 1997. Additionally, the password I use for my Facebook account - as I was using my Facebook account to log in via the old forum's social media plugin - failed to work, and I even tried the original password I had for Facebook at the time I began posting here to no avail. I don't know how to retrieve my old password, since I'm now associating my Yahoo! e-mail address with this account I had to resign up for. I'm going to try one more thing, then I might as well give up on that. I think in light of all that, I think that this upgrade as I see it, is one of the worst-executed I have seen, and I've ran my own websites (I used to run the internet's largest and only school bus museum dedicated to two defunct school bus builders for well over a decade). As one who strongly believes in the phrase "If it isn't broke... Why fix it?", I think they tried to fix something that wasn't broke to begin with. I have no real problem with the look, or layout of the new forum. To me, I actually think the new look and feel is an improvement (despite some issues I've been having, likely the same as others, too). However, I strongly (no, make that vehemently) disagree with the notion Proboards would require users to sign up for a Global account, as it likely throws millions like me who previously used their social media accounts to log in, into account oblivion - losing a considerable amount of forum memberships and - in my case - a rich post history as well as over 220 important private messages that I now can no longer have access to. As I see it, they should've retained that ability.

So, a quick update!
It took me a couple hours of research into the issue, and apparently it was an easy - albeit rather difficult at first - fix. I am now on my old account (complete with all 220+ PMs that I need for the Flight Sim stuff).
So now, I have two accounts here (lovely *snicker*)... Unfortunately the new one links me to the old, which means I'm stuck with two. LOL.
Either way, my opinion still stands on the post I've made directly above.

It requires a password reset, which will - in turn - prompt you to upgrade your account. From there, you should be (in theory) able to log-in using the reset password. I just spent two hours figuring out how to do this myself, as I was having the same issue.

For those wanting a bit of a "There are others who hate it too" misery-loves-company feeling, here's a link to a thread on the ProBoards Support forum. link

2 good changes to the ever-changing V5, that showed-up sometime this afternoon:
1) The bar with the page# on it is now sticky'd. So when you scroll down a page, you'll always see the pag# at the top of your screen. - so when you get to the bottom of the page, the button to change page #s is easily within reach.
2) There is now a "Reply" button at the bottom of the page. Not just at the top-of-page.
These are good changes from how things were yesterday or this morning.

I also have had both of those work since the up date. I am still finding that when I click on NEW participated button it sends me to random pages related to what ever I wanted to look at. Some times its page one, some times the last page and in other instances today pages somewhere in the middle.

I've noticed that my location has disappeared, as has everyone else's. More progress, I presume?

Since every day brings another little discovery about this new format that I dislike, I was wondering if someone could clarify a couple of points for me.
It's been said that this whole shmozzle is a 'beta' something or other, which apparently means it is still in its infancy, and has not been, umm, 'perfected'. Did Proboards force all it's forums into this program, or was it optional? And if so, is there any chance of going back to the old one until this one becomes actually worthwhile?

I'm not sure, but judging on my own experience running websites and web forums, it's not so easy to undo an update, especially in this case where everyone's now been forced into a ProBoards Global account.

The several requests on the ProBoards support forum of undoing the update have been denied, so I doubt it. I really do not mind it. It could use some improvement like spell check, preview posts, take away the global account log in. I personally find this update better because of the visual and the activities.
