Huh, I thought there was a thread for the Maggie #1, but I guess not. Seems odd to not have a thread on the Kathleen's sister. Hand-tinted PC from the 30's.

But now we have a great photo for this new thread (until you change photo-hosts, haha !) Thanks for posting that lovely postcard. I really like the look of the Maggie-1 and the Kathleen.

Here's another--this is from a snapshot. Took an extremely tight zoom to determine it was in fact the Maggie I.

The Princess Marguerite is shown in this short home movie.

Here is some footage of the Princess Marguerite (I) coming into Vancouver in the late 1930s

Two postcards of the first, and for my money, better looking Princess Marguerite.

Two postcards of the first, and for my money, better looking Princess Marguerite. I'm with you on that assessment. The first Marguerite, and the 'Kathleen, we beautiful ships.

... and for my money, better looking Princess Marguerite. I'll 'second' your sentiment. Some would say those 1925 sisters were the finest looking vessels ever to sail this coast. Both vessels had untimely deaths, unfortunately.

On page four of Saturday's Times Colonist, there is a picture of a fellow named Colin MacLock, working on the restoration of a 5 1/2 foot long model of the original Princess Marguerite. I don't quite get why it only has two funnels, but maybe the third was being repaired.
Has anyone seem this model? The story doesn't say if it's on public display.

No, this is the Second PRINCESS MARGUERITE. The ornate windows on the lower passenger deck, the partial windbreak aft of the full one on the Promenade Deck, and the ornate windows and domes over the forward Princess Room and aft Ballroom clearly indicate this is the 1948 ship.

Nice work Ferry Nut. The linked article is actually pretty screwed up talking about the S.S. Princess Marguerite, TEV Princess Marguerite (II), & the M/V Princess Marguerite. The names vary between the print version from Saturday's paper, and two different online versions.
The reporter on this story is unlikely to know that there were no less than three ships that bore the name Princess Marguerite.

So that explains the missing funnel. Chances are the 'update' to the story was prompted by some keen-eyed input from someone like our savvy Ferrynut, rather than a Times Colonist editor.

From a news clipping purchased from a UK merchant, we see the First PRINCESS MARGUERITE slide down the ways on her launching day.
