BC Transit operates even in small communities like Kitimat. Here is one of our local buses negotiating a typical snowy street that you will find here at this time of year. This bus is my bus. The 1A or the 1B could take me "down town" or at least down to the malls that pass for "down town" in this town. They run every 30 minutes from about 8 in the morning to about 6 in the evening on Monday to Saturday, with a 60 minute frequency in the evenings & on Sundays/ holidays. There is also a three trips per day bus between Kitimat & Terrace (60 km distance), Monday to Friday only. The Bus - Kitimat - 22 January 2016 © WCK-JST by Jim Thorne, on Flickr

Nanaimo Transit Fleet expansion: Today I was one of the first passengers to board #1070 On its First ever Run. We departed Woodgrove at 3:15pm on Route 91 for Parksville. According to the driver this is the first time this bus was put into service. There is another Brand New CNG unit in the Yard set to enter service Tomorrow. This is marking the end of a era for Nanaimo Transit as the New buses are put into service look for the D40LF"s to be gradually retired or moved to other communities. The oldest bus in the NRTS Fleet is #8097 and 8041. See pict of 1070 here www.flickr.com/photos/123779583@N06/31608376355/in/dateposted/

I believe all bus are replacements for the 1995-1996 D40LF and to transfer or retire the 1998 D40LF in both systems.

Thats good news. I was on 1071 for the first time today. The new ones are basically the same as the 1020-44's with a couple of minor changes. One notable change is the Stanchion posts in the very back of the bus as noticed in this picture below. www.flickr.com/photos/123779583@N06/31668106965/in/dateposted/The other addition to these buses is the first forward facing seat as you enter the bus on the driver's side. There is now a divider between the forward facing seat and the handicapped seats. Other than that I have not noticed anything else different.

Blue Bus Fan, I have to agree with Neil, though your pictures have improved very much, posting twelve is simply too many. Try limiting yourself to three. Three is a good number.

Quoting from Moderator Maynard: "Four shalt thou not post, neither post thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three is posted, then stop."

And Yes, I am a very happy RDN Transit user! I love these new buses. They are now the only buses in the fleet with the only exception of the 2 ARBOC units #2388 and #2389 used on the #25, #88 and #99 routes. All of the regular D40lF's are gone! At least I have not seen or rode on any for a couple months now. Even though I miss the 9800's

Spotted it about half hour ago at Woodgrove ending a run from Downtown as RT 20A. But this is my first sighting of a diesel in several months.

#8117 spotted in Campbell River today by myself.
I did not have my camera or cell phone on when I spotted it, but rest assured I will keep it on now. Currently I'm camping out of cell range so when in town I will be on the watch.☺

I'm interested in transit systems, but I don't follow it that closely, so I'd be interested in the background behind these photos or transfers, in terms of the impact on local networks, if you could provide it.

I believe this bus was transferred to RDNTS because Kamloops Transit System had one to many XN40. Why they choosed to transfer 1069 compared to recently delivered bus to Kamloops Transit system, numbered between 1093-1114, because those units had Voith DIWA.5 instead of ZF 6AP1400B.

Well now I'm really confused.

Really? Vancouver to Hope? Not likely. The expansion of local transit systems is great, but due to a lack of overall regional planning, one of the downsides is that it makes it much more difficult for Greyhound or any other longer distance carrier to be viable. I think that on Vancouver Island as well as on the mainland, transit is going to have to offer long haul services as well as local, or they're going to have to subsidize private operators who do.
