Throughout the month of November, you're tasked to photographically define December's theme, Ferry Christmas. Some ideas that come to mind...
- Christmas trees on masts, decorated trees in passenger lounges at the terminal and/or aboard a vessel*.
- Ferries with illuminated Christmas lights.
- Ferry-related ornaments that you possess and have photographed in a Christmas or ferry-related background.
...just remember the theme, Ferry + Christmas. It's up to you to complete that equation, but have fun and be creative! *Crew decorated Christmas trees at BC Ferries should begin to appear towards the middle of the month, with the majority of them up by the end of the month.
Members may submit up to three (3) photos. All ferries and the companies that operate them are eligible. Usual size restrictions apply. For further information, please see our Forum Flagship rules, located here. Nominations will be accepted until 6:00 PM PST on Friday, November 29th. A separate voting thread will go live at 9:00 PM PST the same evening.

And in ferry-related ornaments, would something like this be acceptable (different photo, of course, but same model)? Correct, provided it's in the specified background.

You guys will have noticed the new cut-off time of 6:00pm, with a 3 hour time lag until the ballot opens.
- Preparing the ballot is a lot of tedious detailed work, and so we need that time to get it done, and done right.
We usually try to cheat by getting a head-start on the ballot earlier in the evening. But this last month, there were too many last minute nominations or changes which impacted our ballot preparation, and so we needed to simply change the nomination cut-off time instead.

Here we are on the 20th of November & so far just two submissions. I have a few less than perfect photos of BCF ships where you can see trees up the mast, but they don't look particularly Christmas-ie. Mostly they are digital copies of old slides/negatives and they are not very sharp. I might decide to 'enter' one or two. Trees up on the mast are not happening much any more, it seems.
Is this theme too restrictive? Is it time to broaden the scope to include ferries in snowy scenes, or something along those lines?

Christmas trees and other "Christmas-ie" items have begun to pop up around the fleet. That said, I'm sure we'll see more submissions in the coming days...
If, however, we receive less than eight entries by the deadline, no voting will take place and all images submitted will be displayed for the month of December.

As you can likely tell, we've received less than eight entries. This means that there will be no vote, and all six submissions will be part of the rotation for December.
Thank you to all of those who submitted photographs.

Wait! I have two to post once I find an internet connection for my laptop. Hey, I'm not too late, I still have 11 hours... And wouldn't we need to vote to choose the #1 entry to be displayed on Flickr and social networks?

And wouldn't we need to vote to choose the #1 entry to be displayed on Flickr and social networks? I knew that mentioning that early would bring out those last minute people. As long as you submit your entries before 1800, they'll be accepted. In regards to determining an order and a "number one", if there were eight or fewer submissions, they'll be drawn randomly.
