Full Story (KIRO)Tokitae is indeed adrift, though does not appear to have lost all power. I should have clarified..... "Dead in the water" was their terminology while speaking to VTS on Marine Channel 5a. It does appear they had or regained some propulsion ability. They still required the tug boat to assist with the docking at Mukilteo. 1915 hrs - Tokitae just told VTS they'll be "out here in the middle" for awhile, trying to work on the problem.

She probably just took the "Toke" in her name a little too literally. Give her some time, and some pizza, and she'll be back online... eventually. Someone should get her a new calendar as she's five days premature for engaging in that behavior.

Tokitae is currently north of Clinton, presumably coming into Slip 2.

funny how I was on the Hyak going to Kingston 7:00 pm sailing yesterday when I found out that the Tokitae was dead in the water... another passenger was discussing it as her son was either on the ferry or waiting for the ferry.. I forget

I understand why he said that, but then again I always hear people saying that they don't know how to pronounce "Tokitae".... At least I know how to say the name of my favorite ferry...

Not sure how you get Klickitat from Tokitae....I think he meant to say Kittitas is the only boat running (at the time of the incident)...not Klickitat.

My wife was on the Tokitae today, heading to work. To her surprise, the sundeck was open: According to one of the workers, there was extra staff scheduled during the summer to open the sundeck on certain days of the week.

Tokitae's sundeck was open during her stints at Edmonds (Sometimes), but never at Mukilteo.

That's what you get when you rush a boat into service.

I do like her the best out of the fleet but can't wait to see what we have to offer in the making of the last 2 olympic class ferries! Definitely can say I like Suquamish (dear lord I have terrible spelling) as the name for the 4th ferry

The Tokitae arriving at Clinton on a blustery day in February: Inside, much to my disappointment they had the pickleforks closed off: Pretty light load on the 5:00 pm out of Clinton: Lifering and wake as we approach Mukilteo:
