Dane was referring to the 7 PM sailing from Swartz Bay, which would have been the C-Cel. I wonder just how 'spacious' a Coast Boat feels when its passenger license is maxed out?

Dane was referring to the 7 PM sailing from Swartz Bay, which would have been the C-Cel. I wonder just how 'spacious' a Coast Boat feels when its passenger license is maxed out? We had a hard time finding seats on a very busy 11:00am CCel sailing out of Swartz Bay a few Sundays ago. Of course, we spent much of the crossing wandering the ship, and spending time outside on Deck 7, so when it came time to actually wanting to sit down inside, there wasn't a whole lot available then. Also, people have a tendency to stake out their turf on the ferries, and then proceed to plop their gear on all the adjacent seats to keep other people from getting too close to their perceived personal space. It's quite an interesting phenomenon to witness, and I suspect more seats would actually have been available if they weren't taken up by travelers stuff.

This afternoon there was actually two announcements telling people to reduce their baggage footprint, which people actually seemed to follow.
The larger capacity of the SoVI should probably be on as the #1 vessel for Friday & Sundays still. I go back and forth a couple times a week and Friday afternoons and basically all day Sunday is just madness without hourly sailings, and more importantly the smaller ship as the primary. Lots of people only travel on the odd hours for whatever reason.

No I was on the three from Swartz Bay so just walked by the madness!
I do appreciate the newly installed tap to pay terminals. They sure speed up the line, and provide a more secure payment option.

The CI just left Duke four hours late. The Alberni actually left before her while the CI floated around. The Inspiration will arrive just in time back in Nanaimo for the changeover to the morning crew.

I have noticed the last two days the 2:15pm sailing on the Bowen Queen from Swartz Bay to Otter Bay has been full with a 1 sailing wait. Meanwhile the 2:25pm from Swartz Bay to Fulford has been less than half full on the Skeena Queen at least at the time I checked the currrent conditions. I dont really know if that sailing has filled up but wouldent it make more sense to have the Skeena do the Otter Bay afternoon sailing?? They know it's a popular sailing at least I think they do.

I think the current setup is the most fair, since it provides midday capacity for commercial vehicles to Saltspring Island. While it's a four hour wait for Pender travellers, they do have three sailings in the afternoon and the 7:40pm hasen't overloaded so far. Will be interesting to see what they do next refit season with the Skeena MLU, because it appears that BC Ferries has stepped up their game with better relief services when the Bowen Queen substitutes, except for route 7.

It was a busy Boxing Day on the major routes earlier in the day. The thing I notice on the route 2 schedule is that the Cowichan is doing a third round trip at 1830h and 2035h. When was the last time that was done on any Saturday?
Speaking of Saturday sailings, route 30 is doing 2015h and 2245h round trips. It looks that there will be lots of empty space.

The Queen of Surrey is running 30 minutes behind schedule.

There has been one sailing wait since 1300h at both route 1 terminals. The Spirit vessels are not sailing and only odd hour sailings for this weekend.
The 1900h sailings are full on both sides.
The 2100h sailings are at 30% capacity (TSA) and 17% (SWB).

I think this is rediculas that there is not at least 1 Spirit ship running on route 1 all the time. There should always be extra sailings on Friday and Sundays on route 1 no matter what time of year it is especially when they have two coastals running and it's the only way to the island being the Coho and Sidney to Anacortes ferry is not running. Route 1 is always busy even though after New Years suppose to be less busy route 1 is never not busy! Even if the Spirit's are both out they could of had the New West doing extra sailings as the Alberni is back on route 30 now!

Route 1 had one to two waits most of the day with heavier traffic from Tsawwassen. The New West is doing three round trips with a 2000h/2200h. I bet people who forgot to change their clocks are thankful for the 2200h sailing from SWB.

Route 1 has two waits from SWB to TSA and so does the TSA to Gulf Islands.
Routes 1 and 2 from TSA and HSB to Vancouver Island have one wait each.

Route 1 became remained busy with one wait on both sides. The 2100h sailing from both sides was 95% full, the 2200h sailing from SWB is about 10% full.
Route 2 had 90% capacity from HSB on the 2100h sailing.
Route 30 from TSA had one wait for overheights most of the day including the 2245h sailing. The 2245h sailing is 86% full.

Looks like there is an 11:00 PM sailing to Langdale tonight.

On the surrey I see time and time again the Oak bay and Cap don`t like to play nice in the HSB berth. We are always forced to reduce speed and wait while one or both ships leave berth before we can enter.. hence, every sailing we add another 5 minutes on the clock. The other vessels laugh at route 3 because we are a `marine highway` keeping a tight schedule for the commuters/hostages who bought before they though.

I'm breaking the rules here just to make a casual observation. For a Friday log weekend the ferries are surprisingly not-busy compared to what can happen. Wonder what's lead to that this year?
There's a few two sailing waits; the busiest seems to be getting to Langdale which is on the way to selling out for the day at 530pm as I post this.

Five hour wait to get to Duke Point, with the 10:45 also certain to overload, overloads on route 1, Bowen, and Fulford, two sailing wait for Langdale, likely overload on route 5, sold out on route 9, and no doubt overloads on routes that don't show up on the page. Plus overloads yesterday afternoon and evening. Looks pretty busy to me. Only surprise might be route 2.

Fulford Harbour itself on a Friday? Not usually. Swartz Bay-Fulford Harbour on a friday evening though, yes. There have even been cases in the past where Skeena has to do an unscheduled 10:30pm run from Swartz. Tomorrow morning and afternoon will also be busy with people flocking to and from the infamous Saturday market there as well. Vesuvius-Crofton also sees a similar boost in traffic, but rarely does it ever need to do any extra runs.

Route 3 has been busy and behind schedule for most of the day. The Surrey is approximately 30-40 minutes behind schedule and there will be an extra round trip sailing at 2240h and 2330h. www.bcferries.com/bcfservicenotice?id=958756
I am surprised that the Cowichan only did one round trip on route 3.
