The theme for the October-November 2015 flagship is "Old & New" and is based on a member suggestion.
Each nominated photo must include both an old ferry and a new ferry. ie. 2 ferries in one photo
- 1 ferry that is 10 years old, or less
- 1 ferry that is 30 years old, or more
Age is determined by in-service date.
So the young ships are 2005 or later. So all the Coastals, Norex, KdT, Olympics, etc.
The old ships are 1985 or earlier. So BCF C-class, B's, most BCF minor ships, and WSF Issaquah class, etc (ie. most of the WSF fleet, LOL).
If you want a handy WSF reference, use Evergreen Fleet, I'm sure you will find it fascinating.
Passenger ferries and vehicle ferries are eligible. Anywhere in North America. You can have two different companies in the same shot.
However, you need to ensure that both ships are prominent enough. ie. not a new ship prominent and a small speck of an old ship way back in the background (this reminds me of the "ferries loading" theme when an in-berth ferry from a far distance away was nominated.....it just didn't fit the theme).
So please use your good judgement in ensuring that your nomination fits the theme, and that both ships are prominent enough. Otherwise, I'm happy to say "sorry, try again."
Oh, one more issue:
- what about that 1969 photo of Queen of Burnaby next to Langdale Queen. 'Burnaby was new then, and Langdale Queen was always old. Well, that photo qualifies, because the criteria is applied at the date of the photo.
But don't get too hung up on time-travel. The simplest is to use a current photo. If you want to go back in time, you need to make sure your calculations are correct, and please note them in your nomination post.
I look forward to some awesome photos.
Limit of 3 nominations per person
